Happy Ruby Wedding Short Stay

JNH Oxon, stayed: February 2017

We spent a most enjoyable couple of nights away at the Greenway, as an impromptu Ruby Wedding present to ourselves. We found it in the Daily Telegraph Offers, and it was exceptional value, especially as The Greenway had upgraded our bedroom.
We were warmly welcomed by a log fire in the hall, and tasty cream tea in the drawing room. After checking out the spa facilities (pool, sauna, jacuzzi etc) we relaxed until dinner time. Dinner was definitely up to the standards promised, good but limited menu choice (so all freshly prepared) well presented & very tasty, accompanied by good bottle of wine (one of the few things we had to pay for).
After a good, peaceful night's sleep we awoke to appreciate the location - well cared for gardens looking out onto the hills beyond. We enjoyed the full english breakfasts, and found plenty of interest to do in the days. The hotel suggested a visit to Painswick Rococo Gardens, and with over 5 million snowdrops in full flower, and an interesting talk from the head gardener on the history of the gardens, was well worth going, even on a drizzly day! That evening, we fancied a change, so popped down to the Bell, in the local village of Shurdington, where we had proper pub steaks, chips & all the trimmings for 10/ head .... Wednesday is steak night !
The following day, on our way home, we called into Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetland Trust, which was a truly fascinating display of not only waterfowl from around the world, but also otters, beavers, not forgetting the toads newts & frogs in "Toad Hall". So our 1 hour stop turned into a 4 or 5 hours, and still we had not seen it all.
So the Greenway gave us a much needed 2 day break just outside Cheltenham, where we could have simply relaxed & enjoyed the facilities, or used as a base for some interesting day trips.

Greenway Hotel

NDB, Hampshire, stayed: February 2017

We enjoyed an excellent 2 night DBB winter break in February. A very welcoming and helpful staff. A good sized comfortable room with, unusually for a hotel, a good level of lighting. However the furniture and bathroom a bit tired.
The Spa facilities were excellent and we enjoyed the outdoor hot tub!
The standard of food was excellent perhaps being at a quiet time we enjoyed the benefit of all meals being served in the principle restaurant. The afternoon tea in the lounge very enjoyable.
The hotel is close to the Cotswold Way and good walking area. A shame that Reception did not have any maps and details of local walks.
Overall an enjoyable visit, good value for money but we were on a package and I don't know what level of discount we received.

Beautiful building with lovely rooms

Anthony, Hampshire, stayed: January 2017

I was very impressed that staff came out to the car to greet us and take our luggage - also no forms to fill in on arrival. The spa is really top class and I thoroughly enjoyed using all its facilities. Any minor hiccups were put right immediately.

Lovely short break

Chris, Warwickshire, stayed: January 2017

We stayed here for my 60th birthday. It was lovely. The room was really large with an en suite with both bath and separate walk in shower. I am gluten intolerant and the hotel were really accommodating. Each evening they brought me gluten free petit fours without me even asking. Swimming pool was lovely and for me nice and warm. Would recommend this hotel very highly.

Joint Christmas present to each other.

IG, Hampshire, stayed: January 2017

We really enjoyed our break and we were made very welcome. Apart from a rather small bed and lack of a plug by the tea making tray it was everything we look for in a good hotel and the breakfasts were superb. The spa was the best in any hotel we have visited. If another 'Special' is offered next year we would love to come back.
