Some improvements needed
Room had a super king bed which was great. Clean. Hotel has nice decor. Food ok. Handy for visiting Bath.
Negatives: no hot water on Saturday night. We complained and the explanation was because the rooms either side of us had used up all the hot water. No Wifi in the separate block we were in from the main hotel building. No dog towels for muddy paws and bellies which we were not advised about this before our trip. No shower gel, just shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer supplied. One of the electric heaters in our room had the control switch incorrectly fitted by an electrician so we had to get the porter to switch it on for us. Apparently a fault that had not been corrected for sometime.
A country hotel
We very much enjoyed our stay, we were sorry that the staff were unable to get the internet to work in our room.
Post Christmas treat in a lovely hotel.
The room was fantastic, with really unusual touches. We stayed in the music room, which was lovely. Only concern was the water pressure in the morning as we had no water coming through we presume to the number of people showering.
The staff were exceptionally friendly in particular the staff serving in the restaurant. Great location and we really would go back.
Great stay
What a great quirky place to stay. Plenty of character, great staff and wonderfull food. A really relaxing two days. Will be back.
Saved by the food
Spent 2 nights here on a DBB package. The building is in an OK condition and has a nice little atmosphere. The room was fairly big with large windows but had several issues. Wardrobe door wouldn t shut, bathroom door lock did not work and could not be properly shut. Decor was more tired than chic. Bathroom sink had no hot running water. Heating worked on the 1st evening but not on the 2nd night. Made reception aware of all the issues with the room and it was promised maintenance would fix them but we saw no evidence of anyone ever coming to look at the issues. Second night we complained about the heating and again a promise of a heater was all we had. The heater obviously never turned up.
The only upside of our stay was the food. I would visit the restaurant again.
Shame as the whole experience could have been made much better if the staff had cared about hospitality just a tiny bit.
Wonderful Suprise
I took my husband to this wonderful hotel 12th to 14th Dec for Christmas and as a surprise, invited our best friends along. The hotel were in on the whole event and made it all happen when we arrived.
Aaron on reception was truly wonderful and so helpful and friendly. Clearly a man who loves his job and must be a complete asset to this place. Our rooms were quirky and spacious with an old fashioned bath in the room and a lovely bathroom with the rain shower head. Our favourite, was the bar area which had a wonderful ambience as well as the amazing variety of gins. The dining and other seating areas were cosy and warm and the food excellent. This hotel had such a wonderful feel about it the staff were so lovely and friendly.
The only thing we all said, was that the lady serving us for breakfast the first morning, was on her own and did not come across as friendly as the others. We attempted to cheer her up and I even offered to help her the next morning. Sadly, the reply was " I'm not here tomorrow and there will be 2 of them ". Not what you expect, a thank you would have been better. I guess everyone has their off days.
Relaxing 2 night break
All aspects very acceptable, room clean and cosy, dinner delicious and beautifully cooked, breakfast exceptional and staff just lovely.very good value and will return next year.
