So relaxing
Our 2 night break was just what we needed, a quiet room so a good nights sleep, wonderful food and a gin bar with 150 gins ! The customer service was wonderful, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel is just beautiful .
Lovely relaxing break
Widbrook Grange is a warm welcoming hotel. Our room was large and comfortable. Comfy beds with lovely fresh linen . Welcoming tea tray refreshed daily. Restaurant provides gourmet meals beautifully presented. Duck and lamb were fabulous. Wine waiters were friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was excellent with traditional hot courses to follow, again beautifully presented. We will come back!
Lovely location and helpful staff, bed and wifi let it down
My partner and I stayed at Widbrook grange for a long weekend as a relaxing break in the country in September 2018. The location was lovely, with scenic walks in both directions along the Kennet and Avon canal and an easy flat stroll to Bradford on Avon. The house is lovely, with homely, warm and welcoming areas to sit and read or have a glass of wine and chat. The gin bar was excellent, with a wide range on offer. The breakfast was good and we had breakfast in our room on the final morning which was an added treat. Our main reasons for rating the hotel as OK rather than excellent was the bed (which in the classic room was surprisingly small and very soft leading to a restless night of poor sleep), the wifi, which didn't work at all in our room in the hay barn, and the Sunday lunch, which sadly was a real disappointment (beef was fatty throughout and overall wasn't as tasty as we'd hoped). There's definitely some room for improvement which affected our impression of value for money. For me the bed and quality of sleep is so important on a weekend away and it was a shame that this let the hotel down.
Peace and Quiet
Overall we found the hotel good.
On our 2nd night I had an unpleasant experience in the restaurant, I found the menu rather limited (I don't eat fish or offal) and so I ordered the chicken and bacon salad. The chicken looked and tasted nothing like chicken. It was rubbery and tasteless and I think it was not a fresh chicken breast but a preformed one. I could not find any bacon in the salad. I told the waiter of my concerns, he argued with me (loudly) and at my request removed my main course. I was still hungry so requested the cheese course. I was nowhere the 30 allowance for dinner but was nevertheless charged 8 for 6 wafer thin biscuits, 3 tiny bits of cheese and NO butter. Also the septic tank was fairly smelly (I know that's no ones fault ) but thought you would like to be aware of this. Pool was good.

last minute night away, gin bar very small and lacked enough seats on busy Friday. nice food and good friedly staff.
Anniversay treat
Booked for our 44th wedding anniversary (December) Lovely hotel and decor very Christmassy.
First class food and helpful staff. Really enjoyed our stay. Bonus to use the local bus to Bath so no worries with parking. If in this part of the world again we will gladly rebook.
January break
Widbrook Grange turned out to be better than envisaged on the website. The building has had a very stylish, understated makeover with some nice quirky touches. It's very dog friendly and the converted stable block rooms are ideal and most comfortable. The public lounges are lovely to relax in and have open fires. The restaurant serves excellent food and has a good wine list, all at fair prices for the quality served up. The real gem is the Gin Bar which is very characterful. Large grounds for dog walking and close to Bradford-upon-Avon and the Kennet and Avon canal. Staff very friendly and helpful and made our stay most enjoyable. Perfect for a short break at any time of year.
Quirky relaxing break
We enjoyed our stay at Widbrook Grange Hotel very much. It was very relaxing from the outset. The food was excellent. All produce locally sourced and of a very high quality. The location was superb for visiting lots of places including Stonehenge and Avebury. The Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. They were knowledgeable about the food which was being served and nearby places of interest. Our accommodation was very comfortable and quirky. We had a roll top bath in our bedroom as well as a separate shower room. We would like to return in the future.
