The all rounder.

Philip, Lancaster, stayed: September 2015

The Greenway, so convenient for M5 ( 2 miles ) and at the foot of the lovely Cotswolds.
A very warm welcome from the start at this excellent, smallish hotel. Could not fault it.
We will be back. It's a great half-way house on our journey from the North to my family in Devon. We can't wait to visit again.

Disappointed

NL, Orpington, stayed: August 2015

This was booked as part of our mini moon. The house is gorgeous, the food good and the room lovely although could do with a bit of updating.  The spa was incredibly dissappointing, as part of our deal we should have received 2 treatments however the spa was so overbooked we were not able to do so, unless one of us went in the morning and the other at about 3pm therefore not enabling us to go and explore all the Cotswolds has to offer.  In light of this we were given a bottle of champagne however; the whole reason we booked this hotel was to make use of the spa treatments and we were not able to do so. The spa was also not fully functional with a broken tropical shower and then on the second day 2 of the steam rooms were under maintenance so again not useable.  If you do choose to stay here I would make sure the spa is fully operational and that you have pre-booked treatments to avoid disappointment.

We say...

We are sorry to hear that your stay at The Greenway Hotel fell below your expectations, particularly as it was part of your mini-moon.

Your comments have been passed on to the General Manager and he apologises for the spa not being fully functional during your stay, as he appreciates that this was a big part of your stay.  He has assured us that this has now been rectified.  We do recommend that all spa treatments are booked prior to your arrival as they do tend to get busy and it was unfortunate that this was the case during your stay which we understand was very disappointing.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the lovely house and the food they have on offer.

Kind regards

Basil Faulty lives!

Roger H, Chesham, stayed: August 2015

Our champagne package was confirmed with reception on arrival, to be served in the bar at 7.30pm followed by dinner at 8pm. We first received a glass of champagne (half-filled), and having consumed this we asked for a refill from our complimentary bottle. The girl looked nonplussed, but having checked realised she should have served us a bottle, not a glass. She then produced a bottle, opened and poured us a glass which was lukewarm. I had to send that back (is there anything worse than warm champagne, and anything nicer than chilled champagne?) and requested an ice bucket which duly arrived without any water in it so she couldn't get the bottle in! The manager then came with menus and said that our first glasses were on the house. After about 40 minutes he returned to take our dinner order and rushed off to attend to various other peoples' complaints. We were eventually invited to the dining room at 9.20pm and after a further wait our first course finally arrived. It was someone else's order. Fortified by the champagne (which as you can imagine had long been finished) I called the manager over (the same flustered Italian gentleman) and described the experience we had 'enjoyed' so far, much to the amusement of the other diners. Our first course then arrived, and ironically that and the other courses were delicious and beautifully presented on the plate.
Having come from the impeccable Calcot Manor the day before, the service we had that evening was a real disappointment. At checkout we again recounted our experience, to be told that many of the regular staff were on holiday. I suggested that the management of a 5 star hotel in the Cotswolds might perhaps have realised that August is the busiest month of the year and so it might have been an idea to be fully staffed at that time. Hey ho, I guess this is England and one cannot expect standards of service one enjoys in the Arabian Gulf and the Far WHY NOT?!

We say...

The General Manager of the hotel has requested that we pass on his apologies and understands that the issues you experienced were addressed on departure.  He appreciates that the standard of the service you received fell well below that which is usually provided and is sincerely sorry for this.  The Restaurant Manager has been spoken to, to ensure this does not happen again.

We would like to thank you for your feedback and are also sorry to hear of your disappointing stay.

Kind regards

Perfect Short Break

Anon, stayed: July 2015

We had an amazing time at the Greenway Hotel and Spa - great, friendly staff and service, delicious food, a really lovely spa area and lovely hotel grounds. The room we were given was beyond all expectations and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It was the perfect romantic and relaxing weekend and we would definitely return!

Lovely hotel, but room looked as though it needed a bit of an update, plus things in bathroom did not work, but we did tell them at reception, but not sure that they were that bothered!!  Restaurant super and the spa were so helpful, good experience.

The Greenway Hotel & Spa says...

Dear Mrs Stephenson,

Thank you for your comments and I am pleased that you enjoyed most of your stay with us.

We have taken your comments on board and have plans to refurbish the room you were in. Our maintenance manager has been made aware of the issue in the bathroom and has sorted the problem. Thank you again and we hope to welcome you back in the near future

Kind regards - Luc Morel General manager
