Relaxing break

RH, Norfolk, stayed: October 2016

Overall a very relaxing 2 day break, which included a spa treatment for my wife's birthday. All staff most welcoming and helpful and both the room and spa facilities were exceptional. Only a couple of minor issues regarding the offers from Luxury Breaks i.e. the complimentary glasses of champagne on arrival and the £30 reduction for a spa treatment - both had to requested. Also due to a recent kitchen refurbishment only one (very restricted) menu available which was the same for both nights.

Perfect short break experience

Carolynne C, Kent, stayed: October 2016

Four of us were celebrating 45 years since joining university and meeting for the first time. We wanted a quiet boutique style hotel with spa for a bit of pampering and a luxurious feel. We were not disappointed, This break ticked all the boxes - perfect cream tea on arrival, excellent dinner and breakfast, luxurious spa with pool and sauna. We treated ourselves to a facial and massage and felt satisfied and refreshed. The one night break was great value for money.

An oasis of calm

Anon, stayed: October 2016

My stay at this hotel was a welcome break in tranquil surroundings. My room was adequate and the
bed very comfortable. The restaurant was quiet on the evening I was there, but other guests were very
little, light music may have helped. The food was delicious, an excellent choice and good service.  The hotel was not busy and it may have been a welcome gesture to offer me a room upgrade with a view (mine overlooked a flat roof) right at the end of a corridor.  The staff were attentive and helpful.

Dinner menus

NB, Staffordshire, stayed: September 2016

We found the restaurant menu disappointing, it was the same both nights.  The quality of the food was first class but we would have preferred a llittle more variety. We were glad we were not staying any longer.

Delightful hotel and spa

Anon, stayed: September 2016

I visited with my wife for our wedding anniversary. We had a one night stay with afternoon tea, evening meal and access to the spa. We really enjoyed our time here. We were upgraded to a wonderful suite with views of the grounds which was stunning.

The afternoon tea was good, and the dinner was lovely. The menu was really interesting and there were multiple things that we both wanted to try. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The spa itself is connected to the hotel via a corridor. We didn't spend long here, or opt for any treatments but the environment was nice and there were a few people about who had come just for a spa day.

We will definitely go back, and happy to recommend to others.

A lovely stay

Anon, stayed: August 2016

Despite booking a triple room, when we arrived, we only had 2 of everything in the room (although the room was gorgeous!) and when we went to our dinner reservation, it was only laid for 2. However, they sorted this out, and we had a lovely stay. Delicious food, charming staff and nice grounds. Would recommend.

Comfortable, friendly hotel with good service

JH, Hertfordshire, stayed: August 2016

The hotel is a beautiful old house set in an attractive garden although quite a few of the bedrooms are not in the old house itself. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. Our room was large and comfortable with lovely double french windows which were great to leave open as it was hot. We had a nice outlook although the roof of the spa was right outside the bedroom (but you could see to the hills beyond). There were, however, cigarette ends scattered the other side of the balcony. The afternoon tea in the garden when we arrived was great and breakfasts were good. The restaurant was quiet, calm, and candle lit with leisurely service. The menu was a bit odd as there were no vegetarian options and most dishes appeared to be mostly meat or fish and potatoes with a vegetable garnish rather than any proper vegetable dishes. There were no salads or fruit on the menu but staff were really keen to please and it was possible to have lots of things not on the menu if you asked - we both had lovely fresh fruit salads when we asked! The spa pool was lovely although some rather loud slightly tipsy people were drinking in the pool and telling everyone their life history! Overall a comfortable, relaxing place to unwind.
