Historic building.

The Victorian, stayed: October 2025

A really beautiful building with history in a lovely setting. The property oozes with charm and character and as yet the interior hasn't been ruined by any awful contemporary influences and long may it remain.

Ok

MB, Cornwall, stayed: October 2025

We checked in and noticed the sign saying then pool was closed due to an issue, bearing in mind this was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. We were offered to visit another hotel who had a pool, but that was not the point of staying at this location. The receptionist and the spa attendant said that the pool should be operational the following day. Yes it was, but another sign informed us that it would not be upto the normal temperature on the morning. The hotel took no responsibility for the issues caused and though the offer of travelling to another hotel was acceptable. Unfortunately a hotel that could and should have been on our list of hotels to visit again has swiftly been taken off the list. We will not stay here again I m afraid

Nice hotel, ideally situated. Will definitely use again.

CS, Nottinghamshire, stayed: September 2025

Overall, the standard of the hotel was superb. The staff were very helpful and the food excellent. There was a problem when we first checked in because my wife has an assistance dog for mental health, and they refused to allow it into the dining room. This is completely against the law and effectively also excludes her from using that facility as well. Unfortunately, the manager wasn't available, and her deputy couldn't sort it out. Eventually, when she arrived, the problem was solved immediately because she studied the Act. They then generously offered our entire party (5 of us) a free meal on the second evening. Otherwise, the hotel is excellent, and I'm confident that this problem will never occur for anyone else in future.

A lovely break

PN, Merseyside, stayed: September 2025

We arrived later than hoped and the reception staff did everything they could to ensure we dined and got to our room swiftly. The bar and dining area had private tables and we could enjoy our own company. Food was good and breakfast set us up well for the golf! The staff were attentive and responsive, nothing was too much trouble even though they were busy. The only down side was that the decor in our room was beginning to look tired bed comfortable and facilities in room good.

Welcome hotel

TH, Leicestershire, stayed: September 2025

Hotel is a little tired in some areas no locking facilities in the spa. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast not so much for the evening meal or service on the Friday night for which I have raised a complaint directly with the hotel

Awful run down hotel

Anon, stayed: September 2025

The hotel is so run down and shabby. Our room was something from the 1970s. Towel rail falling off the wall, stained shower curtain, freezing cold room. No heater was brought up to the room after calling reception. Bar staff couldn t make a decaf coffee. Someone else s food was added onto our evening meal bill. Ahmed and the reception staff were so lovely and felt so sorry for them.

Charming retreat

JW, Oxfordshire, stayed: September 2025

Very spacious bedroom and bathroom for disabled. Quiet location.
Comfortable bed.
Minor negatives which if rectified would improve experience. Since bath is intended for disabled, there needs to be a pole to assist in getting out of the bath.
There is nowhere to put toiletries or toilet bags by the sink except on the floor.
Well supplied with hair products for washing but no bath or shower gel provided. It is advertised that shaving kits can be supplied on application to reception so surely bathing products should also be available to buy at least if guests have forgotten them or assumed they would be supplied.
