Disappointed

Nick, Cambridgeshire, stayed: September 2024

Beautiful property which has had the soul ripped from it; interior design at its worst, unsympathetic to the property. Staff had obviously been taught the same script and lacked spontaneity. Overall, the atmosphere was of a corporate business run by accountants. Food was unimaginative with little choice, not very well presented and the restaurant's tub seats were most uncomfortable. Communal areas were rather like John Lewis' furniture department. Net curtains in our bedroom were falling apart. There was no flexibility to change the drinks offer of "fizz" (Prosecco) for a glass of still house wine - "you bought the package, that's what you get". The place needs a client-focused management team experienced in country house hotels.

Recent tasteful refurb and decoration. . Staff very willing but amateurish. Needs a Manager who knows the Hotel Business.

Hidden Secret

MG, Northamptonshire, stayed: September 2024

Came across this hotel by chance online. Beautifully located with spectacular views. Had a lovely spacious room with welcome tea and coffee making facilities plus nice beauty products. The only downside was a broken window and safety signs to say do not open. The hotel is undergoing refurb and probably this room should not have been available for us in the first place but helpful staff provided a solution in the end. Had a very pleasant evening meal, service was friendly and relaxed. The decor in the lounges is beautifully designed. The dining room is also attractively decorated athough the bucket seats whilst comfy are not set at the right height for easy dining. Very generous breakfast and again extremely efficient and friendly staff. Would not hesitate to stay again.

A relaxing stay

John B, Cheshire, stayed: September 2024

Lovely hotel. Super location. Large surroundings
Brilliant views. Very comfortable room with good facilities.
Excellent Breakfast efficiently served.
Evening meal was gourmet style, although a limited menu.
Loved watching the automatic mower. A brilliant example of AI. Hidcote Gardens (NT) 2 miles away. Beautiful Chipping Camden three miles away
Warmly recommended
