Disappointed

GD, Buckinghamshire, stayed: July 2024

having stayed at this hotel some years ago, I was disappointed to find that it had been refurbished in a way that was not in keeping with the building, The reception desk was far too high and much of the lounge furniture uncomfortable. The menu was very limited and did not change while I was there (3 nights}. The tea served at breakfast and in the suite was very strange and no ordinary tea was available.

Relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings

Sue Q. Cheshire, stayed: July 2024

Enjoyed our stay in this beautiful building. Very good restaurant. But room was dull with brown furniture and drab decor. Very comfortable bed and pillows though! Bathroom needed an update and had to wait ages for hot water.
Personally, I would like to see some colour around the hotel and perhaps, fresh flowers.

Beautiful location

Lovely manor for a relaxing break, rooms are being renovated but did not spoil our stay. The 10% service charge on everything is a bit over the top, annoying if you have to ask some of it to be removed. Reception area could be improved. Staff very helpful and polite.

good visit

Christopher H, Northamptonshire, stayed: July 2024

Overall we had a good visit to Charingworth Manor. The room was comfortable but sadly only a 4ft 6 bed! However the bathing facilities were excellent with lovely towels and bath luxuries. The breakfast was excellent ,but we thought that the dinner menu lacked sufficient choices. All the staff were most pleasant and helpful but we considered the bar man's dress code of white T shirt and baseball cap rather lowered the tone of the establishment.
On departure I was presented a bill in excess of that due because the complimentary allowance for the first night's dinner of 55.0 per person had not been deducted. This however was quickly rectified. An enjoyable stay.

Lovely one night stay

John, Herefordshire, stayed: June 2024

After another long hot drive, it was nice to be greeted by such helpful staff, the receptionist insisted on taking our luggage straight to the room and was very welcoming. The room was good but when we went for dinner we were a little taken aback at the refurbishment to the bar and restaurant which seemed to want to portray a more modern bistro style with very low soft seating and late 90's/2000's rather loud booming background music which I actually asked if it could be turned down and looking at the other diners I was not alone in wanting this. This refurbishment did not really match the vast majority of the clientele in the hotel so not a good move. The food was once again excellent as was the breakfast and all of the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The next morning we asked if we could use the swimming pool before we left and as we had not taken our welcome drink the night before, we were able to enjoy this afterwards and this made it a really lovely leisurely stay, so I would thoroughly recommend this hotel although I heard a rumour that the beautiful swimming pool is to be closed permanently, which would be a great shame and make us consider whether to stay again.
