All very good except for the fact that I booked a twin room for myself and my friend Barbara Ewart and had confirmation for that by email. When we checked in we were told that our room was avdouble and there was no way to change as they were full. They said they had queried the booking with yourselves and been told that we wanted a double room despite having the email confirmation of a twin room. Why would it have been assumed that that we wanted a double not a twin when it was specifically requested to be a twin.
The receptionist said we would probably be given a compliment

Restaurant value
It was disappointing that our dinner allowance of 30 per person per night did not cover the cost of a choice of one main and one desert per person. Only by choosing a starter as 'main' and sharing a desert were we able to eat inside the allowance. The food was delicious however.

Staff were excellent with very good food

Dog Friendly Haven
Lovely room in the stables & dogs made welcome by all staff plus we were able to have dinner & breakfast in the conservatory with them. Dog beds were available & treats.
We had to ask for the doggie bag which was supposed to be in the room We took our own dog beds & bowls for the bedroom.
Food was excellent!!!
Only two negatives-upgrade the loo roll please & a lot of litter about & a few full poo bags in the grounds. TLC needed in the grounds.
Another one!
We left a comprehensive review on the form left in our room. I have no no wish to repeat it. On reflection I think I may have been overcharged but as I did not raise this at the time it is my fault that it was not dealt with at the time.
Comfortable but lacking in love
We came for a weekend Saturday/Sunday with our two dogs, the room was large and spacious and lovely treats for the dogs. We were told a week before that there was a wedding on so we would not be able to use any facilities at the hotel on the Saturday although it did open for dinner. The restaurant staff were amazing very friendly and helpful and the food was good. For October having to eat in the conservatory because we had dogs did not feel very inviting we asked if we could have our dinner in the library/snug instead and were told no. It was suggested that we park around the back but to walk from the parking area to our room was not easy uneven paving and difficult when wet. It never felt that there was any manager or deputy around to liaise with guests and the feeling we were left with is that it seems to be very much used as a venue hotel rather than for staying guests.
Bit tired in places
Being disabled it was important that the area outside our (outside) room was well illuminated for access . It was not .
The heating in the room was not good and the control not accessible.
The main course meal was not up to expectation . The starters and desserts were excellent.

Lovely boutique hotel with lots of charm. Our room was huge. Staff were kind and helpful. Disappointed not to be able to use the pool due to technical issues with the boiler. Nick was the star of our stay. He went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and special as possible.
