Wonderful staff and food

Lorraine M, stayed: August 2023

We arrived and had a friendly and warm welcome, all staff were wonderful, we had booked afternoon tea which was served promptly and was lovely. Our room was simple and rustic looking out to the country side. We ate both nights in the restaurant and the food was amazing we loved the beef and lamb. Breakfasts fab too. We used the pool which was pleasant and a good size for this type of hotel. The gin bar was great too so many to choose from .. we walked into Bradford on Avon and popped into the pub across the road. Only negatives were that the room may be due a spruce up and difficulty to contact hotel by phone as i wanted to request something. All in all great deal and would recommend.

Very enjoyable stay

Lovely hotel in a good location. Great gin bar which also had some excellent rare malt whiskies. Food excellent. Good wine list. Added bonus of Stornoway black pudding for breakfast. Will definitely stay here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Food excellent. Amazing breakfast.
Comfiest bed (and huge too!) Great little pool and gym.
Lovely quirky items around the hotel.
20 mins walk into Bradfordon Avon which is a beautiful place. Can catch train into Bath from here.

Widbrook Grange stay

GH, West Sussex, stayed: August 2023

Enjoyed our 2 night stay overall. After slight mix up with booking we were upgraded to the quirky Sewing Room - lots of interesting furnishings - ample room and comfortable bed. This is a feature rook so shower fittings hanging off the wall and the architrave round the door to the bathroom looking like it had been broken and badly nailed back with cracked plaster very visible on are not a good look and could easily be corrected to improve the decor and overall utility of the room.
All the staff were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We used the swimming pool which although relatively small is perfectly adequate and an asset to the hotel which also has a few machines in a small gym.
Great walk up the Canal - go as far as you want and call back via Country park to Bradford on Avon.
Grounds of what was a farmhouse (Now extended to form the hotel) are well kept and nice to walk around.
No complaints about catering - breakfasts excellent and varied - I know some prefer a buffet but table service and chat with the staff we felt was far better and gave us much of the background to the Hotel and the area.
No issues with the standard of any of the cuisine,( which was mostly excellent) however felt the menu was restrictive in terms of choice of dishes and if we'd stayed longer this may have been an issue and the costs of the majority of the dishes appeared high (very) -despite the OPL deal).
Wine list although very extensive was very expensive even, in our opinion, for basic (although perfectly enjoyable) wine to the point where the price inflation is self defeating as it appeared to put the majority of guests off putting bottles of wine.
Should mention the bar which is widely stocked with many types of gin under the control of a very knowledgeable manager. 1st G&T in years which was wonderful after a long journey !
Overall ambience is largely based on quirky industrial type furnishings and lighting which we thought were great and imaginative.
Good communication through to Bath and surrounding area is beautiful but getting through Bradford on Avon by car is a pain and to be avoided if possible.
We would return but likely not in the short term if better value for money available elsewhere.

Lovely food. Room disappointing.

Anon, stayed: August 2023

Cannot fault our evening meals. Excellent quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Choice of cereal at breakfast limited and extra charge for cappuccino/ latte surprising in this type of hotel. Our room was disappointing in the stable conversion. Good size and very clean, but very tired paintwork and very dark. There was excessive condensation on all windows, even when left on ventilation lock resulting in slight damp feeling clothes in the wardrobe. No opaque glass in bathroom window overlooking car park, so blind had to be permanently closed. The room was next to swimming pool and with lack of soundproofing it was noisy at times ( including opera singing at 7.30 am!)
