Gorgeous hotel, beautiful location, lovely staff

Bec, Swansea, stayed: December 2022

As the title of this review suggests, we absolutely loved our stay at Widbrook Grange last weekend. We'd travelled from Wales to Bath Christmas Market and booked here on the Saturday night.
It's only about 9 miles from Bath, we'd never been to Bradford upon Avon before, but oh my gosh we will be back.
The little town is breathtakingly beautiful and quaint and looks like something out of a Harry Potter book. The Christmas lights just made it even more romantic.
Widbrook Grange is so lovely, as soon as we walked in we knew we'd made the right choice. It's so cosy and welcoming. All the staff are excellent, from the lovely receptionist who showed us to our cosy room, to the amazingly knowledgeable man serving in the gorgeous gin bar, to the waiters in the fab restaurant.
I'm vegan but my partner isn't. The menu for dinner and breakfast was great, I wasn't expecting such a good choice of vegan food.
Both our evening meals and breakfast were delicious.
We hope to make a trip to Widbrook Grange a yearly tradition!

A lovely location just outside Bradford-on-Avon, which is delightful. Easy access to Bath by train and much better value. Wonderful food, cosy bar. Would come again

Lovely hotel - beautiful rooms and excellent food!

Gillian G, West Sussex, stayed: December 2022

We had a lovely pre-Christmas break with the family. The hotel is beautiful with lovely rooms and fantastic beds! The staff are incredibly helpful (we had some trouble with the heating which was sorted out very quickly). Food was very good, the breakfast is one of the best we ve had. No thimbles of juice here! Overall highly recommended. Dogs very welcome too. Only thing I d say is some non-gin based cocktails would be a good addition to the menu.

Would love to have been able to give it 5 but a couple of issues prevents this

Sally BB, Northamptonshire, stayed: January 2023

First the positives, and there were plenty. The hotel is a lovely old restored farmhouse and outbuildings, just the sort of place we love. We were there for two nights to celebrate my husband s birthdays and the trip had been a gift from our daughters. The staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful, clearly wanting to make our stay special. The room (18) was lovely and warm when we arrived, spacious, with a super king bed, which was extremely comfortable, good quality bed linen, a well stocked tea tray, and quirky decor. The gin bar was amazing and the barman really knowledgable, he made some great recommendations! The food in The hotel was faultless - my husband is a complete food philistine and even he enjoyed it all. The diner menu is limited, but we felt there was sufficient choice. It was all well cooked, served in reasonable time frame, and delicious. Breakfast was just as good and set us up for the day. It could so easily have been a perfect couple of days away - BUT - I feel I must mention the negatives.

They say first impressions are so important- the sign at the entrance to the hotel say Widbrook Grang! It wouldnt have take very much for someone to repaint the E! The sign for reception is very small and to begin with we were uncertain how to enter the hotel. These are only little niggles, but if you are running a hotel that purports to be of a certain standard, then these things should be addressed. However our biggest issues related to - a - the bathroom which was clearly in need of some TLC. Peeling paint, cracked tiles, chipped bath, a badly patched up ceiling, and the hook had been moved on the back of the door but no one had bothered to fill the holes or paint over the patch. However by far the biggest issue was the awful smell in the room. You couldn t fail to notice it, and we very quickly realised that it was the smell of decomposing mouse!

Not really what we expected and in other circumstances we would have requested to change rooms, but this was the only room in the hotel with an accessible shower (walk in, as opposed to climbing into the bath). I have mobility issues so we had no choice but to stay put. In total we told 4 members of staff about the smell on the first evening. One told us that there had apparently been an incident a couple of weeks previously, but she thought it had all been sorted. The following morning, despite the wind and cold, we opened all the windows and my husband went to reception to request that they put an air freshener in the room. When we returned in the evening, the windows were closed, but the smell was still there. When we checked out I raised the issue again and said I felt that they really needed to do something about it, but also that the room clearly had not been properly checked before our arrival. They did give us a very small discount on our final bill and apologised but I am afraid for us the damage had been done. It was such a shame as we had been looking forward to it very much, and to be honest it was a lot more expensive than we would usually pay, for a couple of nights.

Beautiful location and a stunning country house hotel with individual rooms and bags of character and charm. Perfect for a romantic weekend away. Very nice restaurant, good quality and good customer service. The Gin bar is excellently stocked and the bar tender very knowledgeable. Logs fires give the public spaces warmth and great character, perfect for curling up next to with a good book and nice glass of wine.

There was no heating the bathroom of our room and as we were on a corner, outside wall that room was quite cold, but our main room was well heated and very nice. The pool was clean and well kept, the water was cold to begin with but once you were in was a perfect temperature for swimming.

A very enjoyable night away which we'll recommend to others. Thank you

Lovely dog friendly stay

Anon, stayed: January 2023

We had an amazing two night stay at Widbrook Grange - we had dinner one night and the food was amazing, and we have a lovely breakfast every day. One guest was vegan and one was gluten free and we were very well accommodated for.

The staff were all absolutely lovely, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We also had a dog with us and this was the best dog friendly hotel we've been to, really accommodating for dogs and she even got her own sausage at breakfast each morning!

Would definitely recommend.
