could have been better

Noreen W, Kent, stayed: February 2019

Well, when we drove up we thought have lovely, garden fab, room looked very nice, clean. As the afternoon went on we found the room quite cold, could not put the heating up anymore.
We had decided to eat in the restaurant the first evening, more so as we had 50 towards our meal in with our booking, we went down at 7.45 order at 8.00pm got our soup at 8.50 and that was when we ask where was our soup, not happy, then my husband had fish and chips which was 19.00, when it came look good but had a job to find the fish inside the batter. Batter was not crispy. When we said we were not going to pay for this as it was awful. the waiter came back and said the chef agreed. the gym was very cold, its not good for anyone to train in a very cold gym. And to cap it all when we can to pay what we thought we should have we had to pay more, because we were told that as we were not charged for one of the mains, we didnt get the whole 50 off our bill, not that should have stood as it was not our fault the food as rubbish, and not we will not go back.

We say...

Weekend stay

Anon, stayed: January 2019

We enjoyed our stay but room had a heating problem so given 2 portable heaters but unable to open any windows so very hot at night. Drinks expensive and they had no coca cola which seemed rather odd.
However restaurant and reception staff very pleasant

Relaxing Atmosphere

Merle Russell, stayed: January 2019

Our stay at the Wood Norton was very relaxing. It is a beautifully appointed hotel in lovely surroundings. Some of the public rooms were cold and because we stayed in Pear Tree Mews we were obliged to out on outdoor clothes when we visited the restaurant or the main house. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the cuisine was excellent. We hope to visit again in the summer.

Fabulous hotel!

Anon, stayed: January 2019

We had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous hotel. The whole property is fabulous and our room was huge and extremely comfortable. The cream tea was delicious and the meal we had in the restaurant was lovely too. Lots of choice at breakfast. Anyone staying here will have a wonderful time.

Wonderful hotel with great staff

Victoria, Hampshire, stayed: January 2019

We were upgraded to a suite - fabulous. Wood panelling, huge rooms, comfy bed, beautiful d cor and great view from the windows. What more could we ask? Restaurant was busy, food overall good but a couple of the veg sides were not as stated! Shame, as the overall standard of food was v. good. Good position of hotel for visiting the surrounding countryside. Bathroom superb - huge shower, stand-alone claw footed bath - bliss! Towels of superior grade.

If I want to nit-pick, we would have liked a tv in the lounge and not just the bedroom. After spending the day walking, we like to relax in our room with a cup of tea and watch a quiz. Having to perch on the bed to do so was a shame - especially as the lounge is wonderful. Seems churlish to complain of something so insignificant but we like to be honest. Having said that, we would be only too ready to stay at this hotel again. Every member of staff we came across was polite, efficient and friendly - well done to all!

Excellent birthday treat

George, West Midlands, stayed: January 2019

Stayed just the one night for birthday. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Room was lovely, very clean and nice and warm, practical too as plenty of drawers and a wardrobe. Ensuite very clean and a good size, only gripe was the water from the hot tap was scalding hot virtually from the start, possible burns to the unwary user. Dinner was excellent, the standard of food very good. Restaurant staff brilliant and looked after us well. Bar had a good varied selection of drinks and again the barman was very professional and friendly. Good sleep in a comfortable king size bed followed by an acceptable breakfast, had better but no problem as it was still good.
Refurbished steps down from carpark seemed to be higher in height than standard steps so had to be careful after dark, 65+ so found them harder to step up and down.
