Stay for anniversary

JR, South Yorkshire, stayed: August 2020

We stayed here on a deal for our anniversary for 3 nights with bed, breakfast and evening meals included. Bottle of champagne on arrival and cream tea.
When we arrived the person on reception was pleasant and got us checked in. The room was described as a superior room with spa bath (which we were quite excited about). When we got to our room there was a weird smell all the way up the stairs and in the room too. The room was basic at best and the spa bath was a really small bath with a few water jets which we didn't even try.
The best thing about the place was the food was pretty decent and the bar had a pretty good range of drinks. The staff were pleasant enough without being over attentive. The worst thing was the noise from the downstairs bar and right opposite is a market building which has a bell that rings all night. No air con in the rooms.
Tetbury is a pleasant village with more antique shops than anything else. Would I stay there again? Probably not.

I would not like to be to unfair because of the restrictions caused by covid, but there seemed to be no atmosphere about the place, The menu was very restricted, some of the food was good some was bad. I had fish and chips the Friday we arrived the fish was horrible it was so thin you could see through it, all l could taste was the batter and the chips were those horrible thin frozen fries.
My wife had salmon one night which she really enjoyed, starters and sweets were good.
Sorry but won't be returning.

The staff gave us a warm welcome and handed us the keys to our room. The room was adequate.
Dark masculine decor and a small shower room.
The food was fairly good. Some dishes better than others. The squid and mushroom starters were tasty with a good choice of main courses.
A criticism would be that there was limited sitting areas. As it was a wet weekend somewhere warm and cosy for residents would have been welcome

This hotel has no car park. There is a small pay & display about 200 yards away but you cannot park overnight. The food here is ok but the staff who serve at breakfast are useless. My wife ordered a cheese & mushroom omelette & got a ham one. When we told the waitress, she just said oh, & walked away!

Enjoyable stay overall

Anon, stayed: June 2022

Had a recent 2 night stay at the Snooty Fox. Our room was pleasant enough but there was no shower, just a bath, anyone with mobility issues would have struggled. The room was generally very dusty and we could hear every move the people in the room above made, including visits to the bathroom. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and couldn t fault the food, the staff were very attentive and friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return, but the room needed a decent clean.

Tired

JR, ESSEX, stayed: July 2022

The Inn is in a lovely location and ideal for a drink and meal if you live locally. But the room we stayed in was very dated and needed a complete overhaul. Taps were broken tiles cracked in the bathroom and duvet cover had a large hole in it. This stay was a gift from friends for our 40th wedding anniversary but we didn't rea lly feel like celebrating, The champagne that was part of the package wasn't given to us until the morning we left as the staff forgot to mention that as it was hot there would be no point leaving it in the room. The menu for the evening meal was okay but not many choices. Staff were friendly.

The Snooty Fox

Anthony B, Bedfordshire, stayed: July 2024

The staff, location and restaurant were very good but because we booked through Luxury Country Breaks we were clearly given the budget rooms 1 and 2 as opposed to the obviously far superior rooms n the rest of the venue.
The fact that the venue has no car park of its own is not a real issue as there is free, long term, parking within easy walking distance
I would definitely recommend the venue but would book direct if I returned to avoid the budget rooms overlooking the bin storage.
