Would you stay he again NOTE YOUR NELLY
Set in a lovely location with very helpful friendly staff, the rooms are appalling!
The bar area is beautiful maintained very friendly helpful staff, but can be neglectful at times. The food was your usual pub grub nothing out the ordinary. The rooms are appalling ROOM 8 please avoid, has humidifier on entering the rooms, mould everywhere, unable to open windows, the smell is appalling and unfit for any use. We had numerous rooms offered to us all of which needed complete renovation and where small for deluxe suites. Please look at alternative accommodation which is just stunning in this area.
Shouldn't have been sold as luxury
We booked this hotel as a LUXURY ROMANTIC wedding anniversary escape. The lady on reception was extremely nice and booked us in. Our room would have been luxury about 20 years ago, but certainly needs updating to stand up to its name as so called superior. The bathroom was full of cracks, making it look very shabby indeed, and the whirlpool bath was so old and shabby looking, we didn't even bother to attempt to try it. I managed to put a hole in my 20 silk stockings as there was a screw poking up through the gripper track into the bathroom. As for a romantic break? There was quite a large gap under the door, letting all the light from the hallway glare in (& noise!) dinner was very slow coming, probably due to the Christmas parties being held on the same night (totally forgive that) but it took me 45 minutes to get breakfast the next morning & 30 minutes to get a cup of tea even. There seemed to be 2 members of staff for the whole hotel Saturday morning!
Birtheday Stay
The room was only OK, but not luxurious. The bathroom was ok. The room was cold when we went in, heating was off, the full height curtains in front of the radiator didn't help a quick warm up.
The dinner was poor, my piece of fish was tiny, my wife had the pork and was sick in the night.
The choice of fruit and yoghurts for breakfast was limited to say the least. My wife and I do not have a cooked breakfast.
I am sorry to complain but if I don't you will never know.
The Snooty Fox
The staff, location and restaurant were very good but because we booked through Luxury Country Breaks we were clearly given the budget rooms 1 and 2 as opposed to the obviously far superior rooms n the rest of the venue.
The fact that the venue has no car park of its own is not a real issue as there is free, long term, parking within easy walking distance
I would definitely recommend the venue but would book direct if I returned to avoid the budget rooms overlooking the bin storage.
A birthday treat at the Snooty Fox
We arrived at mid-day when the room wasn't ready so spent a few nice hours in Tetbury. When we came back the room was ready. The room was quite tidy although a little small. As part of our deal we had a bottle of Champagne and a box of chocolates for my wife's birthday. The Champagne was good but the chocolates weren't value for money. We then went for our afternoon cream tea but found that they had run out of clotted cream and had to accept vanilla cream which totally spoiled it.
We had 2 evening meals as part of our package, both of which were totally over priced for what was served.
Snooty Fox Tetbury
On checking in counter staff didn't ask for my written confirmation, we had to wait to be attended to as the person was on the computer with his back to us when I started to speak he just went to his forms and asked to confirm our names and home address, we were given our key. We had parked in the public car park and were told there was only free parking down a steep hill which wasn't convenient so we paid each day to park in the pay area, this wasnt expensive . The room was nothing special, decor dated but clean and tidy. There was evidence that they had problems with damp as wallpaper had been bleached out along skirting and around window. There was tea and biscuits in the room which was good however the promised champagne was not in our room on arrival and we had to go to reception, they brought us up a bottle but hadn't been chilled as their ice machine had apparently broken. Disappointed that there was only one chair in the room so one of us had to sit on the bed to drink tea or watch TV. The bathroom was good, shower worked fine, large basin and towels, robes and washing products provided. Our room was over the kitchen and as the window was open as it was warm the cigarette smoke from staff members was smelt in our room and as non smokers not good. A bit noisy with traffic and washing up could be heard when they had finished. The breakfast provided was excellent good choice full English, cereal, toast, jams, yoghurt, so all good. Dinner was good however one meal was too salty which we couldn't eat however we were not charged, dessert was good. Shame the menu was the same choice every day. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive, excellent customer service from them. We didn't use the bar on our stay. Bed was comfortable and room tidy on our return each day. Tourist leaflets were on hand. The key fob to the room was not coded so if we had lost our room key with information of the hotel and room number would have allowed the finder to enter our room. Not particularly secure procedure for logging keys.
We would stay there again . It was nothing special but a good hotel overall
