Snooty Fox

GH, West Sussex, stayed: March 2022

Had stayed here before a few years ago and had a nice revisit. Understand there are to be some upgrades at the Hotel making more use of a lounge/library - should improve the Hotel. Hotel well situated in middle of Tetbury - lack of parking not a real issue as street parking can be found.
Staff welcoming and informative.
Rooms clean and well presented. Inevitably some traffic noise but did not really disturb. Bathroom a bit tired and shower over bath not high enough and screen did not adequately contain the shower so water will leak out and has rotted the skirting near the bath. Not a major issue but could significantly improve the stay at little cost if attended to.

Separate bar area and eating area attached to bar and a separate dining room could be rationalised . Dining room area is a bit dated (although I like the old panelling rescued off an old ship I was told) and not evidently to everyone's taste as diners concentrated in Bar and adjoining area in preference.

Breakfasts available in dining area excellent quality and choice.
Being critical the menu is quite restrictive but there were always a choice we could make so not an issue for us.
Food overall of a good standard except on first night when I had to return a dish which was not properly cooked and inedible. This is not as dramatic as it might seem as everything else was good and had it not been for that I would have rated the restaurant more highly. The overall standard is above traditional pub food and better than we experienced on a recent hotel stay by a significant margin.
The OPL deal provides some welcome extras and unlike similar deals offered elsewhere we were encouraged to enjoy the complimentary champagne with evening meal rather than in the room.

This contrasts with the intransigent attitude of a Hotel we have used via OPL several times some 3 M south of Stow which offered a similar OPL deal - but of late refusing to allow complimentary drinks to be consumed in their restaurant.

OPL clients will make up their own minds as to what features appeal to them but the Snooty Fox (Via OPL) with 12 bedrooms in the hotel itself - makes this a more intimate and enjoyable setting than say being stuck in some anonymous annexe and overall is good/very good value for money.

No reason for us not to go back.

Relaxing Stay in central location

Richard, Staffordshire, stayed: April 2022

We stayed for 2 nights at the Snooty Fox. Upon arrival the staff helped my wife carry her case to the room whilst I parked the car (local street side parking was available within 100-200 meters walk). Unfortunately we weren t happy with our room allocation, but upon raising the concerns with front of house, they promptly offered an alternative. We had booked for dinner bed and breakfast for 2 nights along with an afternoon tea. The food in the restaurant was exceptionally good and we looked forward to each meal. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bar/lounge had a welcoming ambience and there was a nice open fire, there is also a small terrace to the front that has seating and catches the sun (albeit roadside it was nice to sit out and see the world go by. Overall a great stay.
