A welcoming hotel

Peter, Gloucestershire, stayed: September 2024

We enjoyed our stay at The Heyford. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout; we felt that our dog was just accepted as another guest (with dog bowls and treats left in the room); the location was good and the food in the restaurant was very good.

Not what you would expect but a surprising hotel

MS, Suffolk, stayed: March 2024

Booked as birthday present some what disappointed with location but that s my fault for not checking better. Having said that hotel was luxurious rooms to very high standard.
Gourmet restaurant was not to our liking but the full English was top draw. Location great for Oxford and Blenheim Palace so weekend ended on high.

A modern Getaway Break

Anon, stayed: February 2024

My wife and I were greeted very warmly by Laura and her staff.
The room was more than adequate and very relaxing after a long drive.
The food in the restaurant was of a high standard and we were looked after by Megan where nothing was too much trouble.
Using the off-peak luxury booking on line service made ita super experience from start to finish.

Excellent hotel with a great price!

Mandy, Essex, stayed: February 2024

Exceptional customer service from start to finish, a very clean hotel room with a lovely spacious bathroom. We ate in the sports bar and the food was excellent. The staff were really great, from Michael and the lady whose name began with R (sorry cannot remember full name) who kindly took all our luggage up from reception, to the bar and restaurant area and also the housekeeping staff who showed us other rooms upon request when we were checking out. This hotel felt like 'family' and that everyone enjoyed working there, that is rare to see and feel these days! One minor point is that the chairs on the balcony were difficult to maintain clean and dry so maybe different choices may be better for the future but overall this was great experience staying here. The valentines decorations we viewed were amazing and so well done! Would definitely recommend here!

Good stay but the location and evening meal let this hotel down.

JP, Gloucestershire, stayed: November 2023

When we booked this hotel we thought it was in the countryside. However on entering the village we quickly realised that the hotel was in the middle of a housing estate, and houses were still being built opposite. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and the rooms are huge and have all the best fixtures and fittings. Although our room overlooked the main road through the village, the soundproofing was excellent and we hardly heard it.

We had a meal in the restaurant as part of the package. The food wasn't good at all and was more like poor pub grub. There were also children running round the restaurant, which didn't make for a relaxing evening. After our meal we thought we would sit in the bar and have a few drinks. Unfortunately, there was load music from the TV music channel and it was very noisy and full of the locals from the surrounding houses, who were quite noisy when they left at closing time (unfortunately, the sound proofing didn't block out the noise of them shouting).

We had 2 games of bowling while we were there, which was good fun and breakfast was much better than the meal we had the night before. So, overall we had a good stay but the location doesn't make for a relaxing weekend.
