Okay hotel

Staff were lovely. Foyer is beautiful. Room needs maintenance, bathroom has damaged tiles, missing grouting, mould. Room is dated Not a luxury stay but okay if visiting places nearby.

We were staying in one of the executive rooms which was spacious and well equipped with a coffee machine, tea, milk etc. nice added touch of having parking outside the room too.
Unfortunately the room is very dated and in need of some maintenance. Cracked tiles in the bathroom, towel rail coming away from the wall and a lick of paint would make the room feel better kept.

The restaurant was a big disappointment, we had a 2 course dinner with our booking and the menu choice was disappointing. The food was bland and not very appealing. The gravy on my husband's roast dinner was so hot it burnt his mouth!
The service was very poor. Unfortunately the staff were unfriendly and looked like they didn't want to be there! and when we asked for the bill we waited for 20 minutes, when no-one came back to our table we asked another server if she could help, she rolled her eyes and walked off!

Beautiful location, room was good size, had everything we needed but we felt that it had been neglected (decoration wise) and could do with a refurbishment as could the hotel in general. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly, attentive and polite.

Tired decor ..Limited repetitive menu . Out dated furnishings in room . No lift . Disappointing !

Anon, stayed: October 2024

Accommodation in separate block remote from reception and restaurant facility. No covered access between blocks . Guests have to traverse the car park to access restaurant .
The whole hotel needs a redecorate and re furnish to bring it up to an acceptable standard .

Food was mediocre .

Rooms are dark and poorly furnished with poor quality furniture .
Reception area needs a re style to create a more welcoming ambiance (lower the counter level.

Lack of staff spoilt our break.

CT, Kent, stayed: September 2024

Although the staff who were there did their best to provide a service they were unable to cover everything .
Service in the restaurant was poor and the menu was very repetitive. There was no information about the local area at the reception desk and we only stumbled on the stately home across the road by accident!

Room no.19

RN, Staffordshire, stayed: July 2024

This room has only has an "ok" because it was the weather was very hot and this room, although the radiators were not on the lead pipe to the radiator was on morning, noon and night. Same in the bathroom. The bathroom floor was always warm and the edge of the bedroom carpet was always warm. It was like under floor heating in these areas. The room was unbearably stuffy and we asked for a fan. When we realised the problem we told the manager who said he was aware of the situation but nothing could be done about it due to the age of the property. With hindsight, if this is the fact then why did the radiators look quite up to date. For us octogenarians this was extremely uncomfortable to say the least.. I have been quite fair with my review .I am putting a Yes to the question regarding staying there again but it would only be during cold weather.
