It was OK but could have been better

Anon, stayed: April 2024

The room layout was identical to a budget motel but the decor was slightly better, although the carpet was stained in several places. The radiator gave out heat at some very random times but not when the room was cold. Unfortunately, reception staff were unable to do anything about it, except provide an extra duvet. The restaurant struggled to provide everything on the menu, including coffee after dinner, as the machine was broken for the entire time (3 days/2 nights). The staff at breakfast were willing and helpful but didn t seem to have anyone managing them, so they struggled to keep up with demand, even though it seemed quiet. I think we would ve had better value at a Premier Inn with an attached restaurant. Disappointed with the quality considering the price.

The hotel was tired in places & the restaurant & bar lacked atmosphere. Our room was clean & well serviced. Location was good as buses stopped outside for Warwick and Stratford.

Weekend getaway

AG, Kent, stayed: May 2024

Ok, good points . Most of the staff were very nice however one waitress was very sullen and quite rude.
It was clean and tidy.
Our bed was comfy and the room was a great size.
Bad points. The hotel is undergoing redecoration but we weren t told this on arrival.
The food wasn t great, one of our party couldn t eat her steak the waitress mentioned above didn t really want to listen to what was wrong with it and just picked up the plate and walked off whilst we were speaking to her! We asked for the supplemental price to be taken off bill and it was. On the Monday when we arrived for breakfast at 9.30 there was no hot buffet option left and it had been cleared away!
The smoking area is situated by the entrance doors to the building where the bedrooms are so you have to walk through people smoking and you can smell it all the way up the stairs.

Needs more staff

MH, Warwickshire, stayed: May 2024

The Charlecote Pheasant is a lovey hotel but needs some TLC. It is very understaffed in every area the people on reception were having to help out with replenishing the breakfast buffet. The waiting staff were trying to serve in the restaurant and at a private party in one of the function rooms. The rooms are very tired and need updating which is a shame as it is in a beautiful location. The hard working staff are very helpful and friendly and you feel sorry for them as they are trying so hard.

Room no.19

RN, Staffordshire, stayed: July 2024

This room has only has an "ok" because it was the weather was very hot and this room, although the radiators were not on the lead pipe to the radiator was on morning, noon and night. Same in the bathroom. The bathroom floor was always warm and the edge of the bedroom carpet was always warm. It was like under floor heating in these areas. The room was unbearably stuffy and we asked for a fan. When we realised the problem we told the manager who said he was aware of the situation but nothing could be done about it due to the age of the property. With hindsight, if this is the fact then why did the radiators look quite up to date. For us octogenarians this was extremely uncomfortable to say the least.. I have been quite fair with my review .I am putting a Yes to the question regarding staying there again but it would only be during cold weather.

Beautiful location, room was good size, had everything we needed but we felt that it had been neglected (decoration wise) and could do with a refurbishment as could the hotel in general. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly, attentive and polite.

June Stratford trip

Stayed here before, but this time the room was small but adequate, dusty though in the room and generally needs better cleaning!
Restaurant food good but uninspired
Breakfast was not good, cold egg, lack of choice. With half an hour to go for breakfast, no pastries ,cheese or cold meats left, and coffee machine run out of coffee!
Staff pleasant but v young and lacked motivation
