Fish Fingers ??
On booking this hotel for the weekend I decided to book a table in the restaurant for the 1st evening.
When I was told the fish of the day was "cod Goujons" I asked if that was just a fancy way of saying fish fingers??
I was right it was !!
Needles to say I didn't eat there the next night.
On a positive note the breakfast was nice although the room was not very clean.
Disappointed
Underwhelming stay .no welcome drink on arrival.was asked to pay again for the room I already paid in full.given a room key that didn't work .rang desk ask me to go to reception to get another instead of bringing it to me .room was some distance away ECT . However restaurant staff were helpful and the food was good .
Wonderful oasis
What a stunning gem we found. Stunning location
Excellent hotel and awesome staff on reception and restaurant, Infact through out the hotel. Had the roast of the day on first night in restaurant and it was simply stunning, that dish alone should be given a Michelin star. Definitely will go back and would highly recommend.
Charlecote Pheasant (near Stratford)
Location was perfect as we were all travelling from different parts of the UK; also very close to Stratford and the Motor museum. Suites were huge and comfortable but a bit dated and in need of a makeover. However, while breakfast was ok there was no fresh fruit, and we were all disappointed with the choice of main course which seemed lacking in imagination.
Mediocre
The room was fine - clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet with everything you could ask for. Reception was a bit hit and miss - eg they didn't let us know that breakfast times were different depending on the day of the week!. The disappointment was dinner - very mediocre. We had booked 9pm, which was fine, except when we ordered pudding we waited ages and then when we enquired we were informed that the kitchen had shut. Why not ask us what we would like for pudding when we ordered the rest of the meal, so the kitchen could have got it ready before they closed up.
We would stay again for b&b but not for dinner.
Improvement suggestion.
Needs the evening menu changing on a daily basis, just changing the soup and catch of the day ( which was the same on Saturday as it was Thursday Sea Bass ) is not enough. Other than that very good throughout.
RAH.
Pleasantly surprised
We booked an executive room which was the loft area of cottages in the garden and it was enormous well worth the extra. The food was superb quality and plentiful with excellent service as well. First impressions were a bit daunting but altogether a pleasant experience.
