Lovely relaxing hotel
On arrival we were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. Our room was big and, apart from a couple of housekeeping issues which were resolved once mentioned to staff, overall very comfy. The food was outstanding. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall a great weekend's stay.
Returning after 30 years as good as ever
First hotel we stayed at in the Cotswolds as good as I remembered it, just in a different position, could have swore it was in the middle of the common! Good stay, will go back again and not leave it for 30 years this time! Only thing, dont do the walk on the leaflet, around the common it sends you the wrong way, as no roads marked. Food and staff lovely, nice complimentary touches in the room.

Lovely location but restaurant let s it down
Hotel location is beautiful. Our room was quite small and faced a road but that was fine as we were only there one night.
Couldn t fault the breakfast which was delicious however the evening meal was a let down. Had read that the restaurant was a 2 rosette which was the main reason for booking this hotel as we are foodies. The starters were ok but the main menu choices and food were pretty terrible and afterwards, after reviewing trip advisor we realised we weren t the only people to think this. The menu really needs working on. Was a shame.
Staff all very friendly and nice
Mid-week deal
We had a very enjoyable stay for a double celebration. Deal included a welcome drink which we followed with a cream tea. We ate in both nights and enjoyed our breakfasts. Worthwhile taking a five minute stroll to buy ice creams. Bedrooms were in keeping with the age of the hotel - comfortable but not ultra modern. Shower over bath not the easiest to get into and no grab bars for those who last stayed at the hotel fifty years ago! Glad to see the bear still there.

Promise fulfilled
53 years ago my future husband promised that when he could afford it we would stay at The Bear. We finally did it, and it came up to all our expectations. For me it was a return to where I grew up and the glorious countryside did not disappoint. Hopefully we will be back.
Great Hotel
Stayed for one night on a Dinner, B/B basis. The staff were all excellent, friendly and professional. Dinner was very good quality and we had a lovely table in the window with the most amazing views. Breakfast was of equal quality, loads of choice and the best omelette I have had for a long time. Hotel is in a lovely setting and the public rooms were well furnished. We were a little disappointed with our room, it was clean and comfortable but it was small and could have done with a little TLC, however that was our fault for choosing a standard room, definitely worth upgrading. Overall a really lovely stay, we will be back.
