Hotel getaway
Good hotel. Comfortable
Lovely evening in a great hotel
Our room was exceptional more of an apartment really with comfortable four poster bed huge bathroom and a nice sitting room.it had everything you might need. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious, a gourmet meal, we loved it and breakfast was great too.
The staff everywhere, bar restaurant and the front desk was pleasant , helpful and welcoming. We were only there for the one night on our way from Scotland to France but would definitely like to come again for a longer stay as the surroundings seemed pleasant and well worth a visit.

Wedding anniversary disappointment
Booked this as a luxury break for our first wedding anniversary
Description of the hotel being on the green is very misleading
The hotel fronts the main road and not The Green
Rooms very average
Service very poor,reception didn t answer the phone despite ringing several times, good job I wasn t having a heart attack !! No welcome drink as promised, had to ask,overall feel was off a tired hotel trying to drum up business. Description totally misleading and as the booking was a surprise it didn t help when reception demanded money despite me having already paid and then shouting out the price to my husband !!!!!

Please accept my apologies that you found the hotels location misleading from the description.
The welcome drink we advise guests to take at their leisure at the bar whenever they feel best suits them, I will be making sure that the reception team are clearly communicating this to all guests.
The poor service and the phone not being answered are disappointing to read but myself and the team will continue to improve these areas in order to avoid a repeat.
The hotel has just had an extensive refurb on the outside areas of the hotel with the entire exterior walls being painted and some fantastic new signage, as I am sure you will understand it is on ongoing process to refurb all areas of the hotel and more rooms and areas will be looked at in the coming months.

This hidden gem needs a polish.
The pleasant outdoor seating area was nice and quiet when we arrived on a sunny day, our room was well presented, spacious, clean with a comfortable bed. Reception staff were helpful and welcoming at all times.
However, there was a wedding in progress when we arrived: this seemed to overwhelm the staff, who were very busy. The dining room service lacked finesse- staff training is in order. The menu was overpriced, limited and dishes were not well balanced.
This is an old building full of character, in parts well kept, clean and quirky, but some external areas are in need of sprucing up. Lovely walks in the locality were an added bonus.
Fabulous Bear of Rodborough
We return time after time to this great quirky hotel. Lovely walks right on the doorstep! Just love this place!! Some of the rooms in the original building are small but very comfortable. The food is amazing, the main dinner menu offering a different variety of food to the run of the mill hotel restaurants. Breakfast is unmissable!! Thank you to all the staff at The Bear!

We had our wedding at the bear with a two night stay over
The staff were outstanding from the lady who checked us in to the two ladies cleaning our room
Everyone was friendly and went above and beyond
The food was out of this world
