We thought we were staying in the main building, instead we ended up in the large annex, tantamount to a Travel Lodge. Very poor decorations and no hot water for the shower. I complained at check out and was told to let the tap run for 10-minutes! Who on earth would do this with no beforehand prompt?.
A few mix ups
We recently stayed here for two nights. The hotel needs a bit of upgrading but overall it was ok for the money.
We had a few issues which could have been avoided and would have made the stay better:
We were allocated a room with a double bed on arrival instead of the twin room we had booked. This was resolved after the issue was raised.
On checking out we were advised their system had us booked for three nights instead of the two we had booked. We had to show proof of our booking for the hotel to agree to remove the additional night charge. We were then requested to pay for the remaining nights despite having paid at the time of making the booking. This was only resolved after a fair bit of time by me showing them the transaction from my online bank account confirming this (despite our email reservation showing proof of purchase). This left a bad taste to the end of the weekend.

Very good we stayed for a golden wedding and we were made very welcome
Dinner was very good breakfast reasonable -
The menu in the restaurant needs changing regularly. There is concern over some cleanliness room 10
Shower needs grout cleaning and dust could be found on table lights and around the desk
Excellent Stay
We had a lovely stay for a special birthday and we were not disappointed. The hotel is set back from the road in large grounds and a 2 minute walk through the gardens brings you to a canal with a tow path either side and a beautiful old church next to the water. There is plenty of outdoor space to relax in and lots of outdoor seating. The hotel itself is old and all the interior and rooms are in keeping with the age of the property. The food was amazing and the best thing of all was the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble! Would definitely come back

Limited Meuse choice in restaurant and not cooked at all well. Breakfast was overcooked and poorly cooked Overall condition of the hotel needed a good clean and decoration Such a shame as its a beautiful building
Good
Lovely hotel only issue we felt was that the dining area for breakfast especially was in need of improvement. Tables in both sides of restaurant felt sticky to touch despite being clean. Tablecloths would have easily rectified the situation. Although we understand most places have decided not to use them since Covid. In this situation we felt they would have been justified as although staff were cleaning them regularly, once cleaned they still felt sticky to touch!
