Great place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay we had a very good room in the main house . We were in a family and friends group the people who stayed in the garden rooms were not as impressed with their rooms as we were .
Breakfast was very good cooked freshly as you ordered . We also enjoyed dinner one night

Moved rooms as the first room smelt because of the finish on the new furniture, we were very pleased with our new room. We ate in the restaurant on three nights and my only critism is it would be nice to be offered a bread roll while waiting for the first course.

Our room was not ready when we arrived despite the fact that I called the day before and requested an early check in. I was advised that the charge would be 25.00 for this service. As we had paid for a package, i.e. overnight stay, afternoon tea and champagne on arrival, I requested swopping the afternoon tea for an early check in. We did not receive either an early check in and we were not offered afternoon tea later in the day. (We had not wanted the tea and tea time as we attended a birthday lunch at the hotel). We did not receive a glass of champagne either.
The hotel was very clean and we had a nice clean room. We ordered breakfast, scrambled egg, we had to arrange for a fresh meal - the staff in the dining room were very helpful and dealt with our complaint extremely very well. We were just a bit disappointed with the reception staff and them not knowing what we had booked.
Having said that, I would stay again as I believe the staff were under pressure due to a wedding taking place the previous day.

Not enough staff in restaurant or hotel. Some staff good but some very poor. Food good for dinner. Difficult to get a taxi to and from station. Hotel decor etc good. breakfast choice OK.
Beautiful old hotel but not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.
Very disappointed on arrival to find no disabled access. The toilets were not on the ground floor but down a flight of stairs. Even access to the grounds was down steps from the main floor. The staff were not very helpful when we checked in. The morning staff were much nicer. There was a function on the second evening and the bar menu was restricted and very slow service. The hotel is in a beautiful setting but very stressful for my husband as everywhere was on different levels.
Wonderful place to stay
A beautiful place, the staff are so friendly and helpful, we stayed two nights, the housekeeping staff were lovely, they knew it was my husband's birthday and when we went back into the room, they had put a beautiful plate of cakes & biscuits with happy birthday piped in chocolate and printed message. Thank you both.
The restaurant and bar staff were excellent too and nothing was to much trouble.
Thank you to all the staff you were amazing
Winter weekend
Welcoming wood fire in bar area, nice place to enjoy afternoon tea.
Lovely setting for a walk through garden and along canal, and a good location to visit Slimbridge.
Room in house comfortable with good sized bathroom, large bath but beware step out of shower.
Pleasant stay
Our stay was very pleasant, the hotel was well situated and all services were satisfactory. In particular the young woman in the restaurant (not sure her name) was very helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable,
