A lovely valentine stay only let down by the dated and tired rooms

Rob, stayed: February 2016

We stayed at the Stonehouse for a valentine break which included a superb valentine dinner in the restaurant. The staff were lovely and the service excellent. The old part of the hotel is beautiful and fascinating however the garden view rooms (a modern extention) did not seem to have been very well maintained. The decor was very dated and there was peeling paint and mould on the walls around the windows and numerous damp stain marks on the ceiling. The room we had was quite small although the view of the gardens was lovely. The bathroom was clean and spacious and stocked with complimentary toileteries. We had ordered room service breakfast for the following morning however this did not arrive at the allotted time and when we tried to use the in room phone to call reception we found it did not work. I therefore had to go to reception in person to report the missing breakfast but once reported the staff were most apologetic and very quickly personally delivered our breakfast to our room. In summary, Stonehouse Court is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location with wonderful staff let down by poor management and a lack of investment into the rooms.

Good break in lovely surroundings with pleasant atmosphere in the hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The manager of the restaurant was particularly helpful and gave excellent service. The hotel was comfortable, the room we stayed in well furnished and clean. Would stay there again.

Fantastic Beak

David, stayed: June 2016

We had one night here and from start to finish it was fantastic. The afternoon tea which we pre booked was excellent as was the meal in the restaurant later that evening.
The rooms are superb and we had a lovely view of the grounds.
All in all it was a relaxing break and we will return.

A 90th birthday party

Andrew M, Wiltshire, stayed: September 2016

We stayed for three days. The grounds lead down to the church and the old canal.

It's a busy through-route, but the staff at the hotel were helpful beyond the call of duty. Slimbridge perhaps over-rated, but pleasant walks close at hand.
