A lucky find!

Anon, stayed: April 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed but, as it was at the front of the hotel, we did hear the traffic rather early in the morning.

However, everything else was excellent, a very relaxing stay. We have stayed at several hotels in the Cotswolds and this would rate as one of the best.

Our confirmation said we would be upgraded if available, but we weren't upgraded. Disappointed.

LM, Essex, stayed: April 2015

Our confirmation email said that we would be upgraded if available, but we weren't upgraded. We were disappointed with that. For the money we thought our room would be better than it was. Our room was also the fire escape route which meant had there been a fire, other guests would have had to go through our room to get to the fire escape. We didn't like that.

We say...

As part of the package, there is a complimentary bedroom upgrade subject to availability on the day of check in however unfortunately all the higher graded rooms had been booked so this was not possible.
We have contacted the hotel, and your fire escape route which was from the bathroom was only for your use. All other guests had direct access to the main fire escape so would not have come through your room. Your bedroom locked and operated as normal.
Kind regards

Love the Manor House and everything about it. Very charming and very welcoming with great service. Food is great but have to say, the portions are pretty small. Could have eaten my dinner twice as first time there just wasn't enough! Make sure you have a big lunch or you may be hungry after dinner. Breakfast however was fabulous and with great portions! Great location and within easy reach of many super places. Very relaxing and cosy hotel. Look forward to going back there again and again!

Manor House Hotel Moreton in Marsh says...

Thank you for your comments and I am pleased to hear you are a fan of The Manor House!

I was of course sorry to hear that The Mulberry Restaurant wasn't quite to your satisfaction on this occasion and while I would suggest that we provide a four course meal which balances quality ingredients, rich sauces and exquisite presentation it is equally important that our guests feel satisfied and apologies if this was not the case on this visit.

We are lucky to also host the Beagle Brasserie within The Manor House which provides refined hearty fayre and is a great alternative to The Mulberry.

Either way, we look forward to welcoming you back to The Manor House in the near future perhaps.

Regards

Simon Stanbrook
General Manager

Food

David, Hampshire, stayed: May 2016

For a hotel of this quality one would expect either greater choice or change of menu after a couple of days.
We asked the waitress if there was any other alternative if we were to stay longer - no there was just the set menu to choose from.
Also as we are approaching our 70's with our room being in the attic it was a long hike up and down although they did offer to carry bags.

Good but let down by extra charges

David J, Bedfordshire, stayed: December 2017

We booked and paid in advance for a gourmet tasting break. The meal and service at the table were excellent but on checking out the next day we were asked to pay 10 for the water that was allready on the table when we sat down for which nobody had mentioned a charge, plus a gratuity of about 20.  Had this break been a gift it would have been very embarrassing.  The room, despite the break offer sugesting it would be upgraded, was small, we had to discover how to get the heated towel rail to work and it took 2 members of staff on two visits to get the television to work at all. These things should have been checked before our arrival.

Very poor meal in restaurant that ruined our stay

Anon, stayed: February 2018

When we arrived for our cream tea we sat down at a table that was dirty. When they brought over our cream tea they didn't bother to clean the table. The cream tea was delicious and the gluten free scones were absolutely marvellous! The good double bedroom was very cosy and for the offer rate we got, the value was ok but I wouldn't pay the standard rate for it. The breakfast was ok but I'd recommend they get a broader selection of continental food. We dined in the fine dining section of the restaurant but it was very poor. We are both gluten free having told the restaurant twice in advance. They didn't know this on arrival and on a few occasions brought us food with gluten in. When we advised them we couldn't eat it they chucked some gluten free crackers on the table and didn't even bother to remove the gluten food. We had paid £60 each for the taster menu so this was very unacceptable. The manager was very apologetic and has invited us back for a free meal as compensation.

We found the hotel accommodation and location good but the restaurant let the hotel down with no staff and poor food but the staff which were available tried their best under the circumstances.
