DISSAPOINTED
have found it necessary 2 make a formal complaint. Would like s monetary refund
Awful food and very basic for the price
For 32 filet steak and triple cooked chips. The chips were rarer than the steak and were completely undercooked. The steak was fibrous and tasteless (I discovered the steaks were frozen and not fresh). Breakfast sausages were low quality and on at least one occasion we were not offered any toast. The Baked Alaska , which should be made with vanilla ice cream, without any warning came with chocolate pistachio and vanilla and resembled something straight out of the freezer from Iceland. There was clearly at least one wasps nest within the outside seating area, making it impossible to enjoy any food or drinks outside.
The only positive was the staff who all seemed to be doing their best I trying circumstances.
Tired rooms but helpful staff.
Staff very helpful but room old and tired. Door to en-suite had to be sanded down and treated with WD40 before it could be opened and closed properly and not squeak. Hot tap leaked and was too tight to open and close easily. No instructions on how to operate coffee machine and television. Heated towel rail off and no instructions on how to turn on. No central heating.
Garden looked beautiful but weather too poor to use it.
bathroom needing renovation.
Our bathroom was in a poor state of repair
chipped bath surround
mould on the walls
lavatory seat became dislodged when in use , and fell onto the floor, while we were sitting on it.
Luckily we were not injured.
We reported it to the staff, who tried to fix it , but were not able to do so
Not what we expected from a 'luxury hotel'
there is no lift and we had to take our suitcases up to our room on the top floor.
We are both in our 80's.
When we said something to the person on the desk he said we could have asked for help.
We emailed comments on our return home.
An unenjoyable stay
We didn't enjoy our stay. The room was rather small and extremely hot with the result that we spent an uncomfortable night. The staff were unwelcoming - so much so that they tried to stop us going to the restaurant although this had been booked. Finally, we were double charged on a part of the bill.
Disappointing
The window in the room as broken which meant we couldn t close it. We were there over the bank holiday weekend and it was cold. This was dealt with very poorly by reception staff who did little to smooth things over and were defensive and argumentative. Eventually the window was shut, but we were then unable to open it.
I don t believe the window latch had only just been broken - it looked as though it had been missing for some time and had clearly been overlooked by housekeeping staff.
The manager spoke to us just before we had supper and said he would be arranging something re the price via off peak luxury. We ve heard nothing more that a week later.
We paid a lot of money for our stay and not only was there an issue with the room, it was dealt with very poorly. I would expect a lot better service in a hotel of this standard and a certainly
wouldn t expect a broken window.
Substandard room. Tired decor, but good food.
Stayed 3 nights in what was supposed to be a superior room.
But the room was depressing, with broken window blinds, dirty glass. Paint peeling from timber beams, water damaged bath panel and peeling paint.
Stain on the carpet faulty coffee machine along with poor flushing of the toilet, spoilt what was supposed to be a luxurious few days away.
Food was good as was the service.
Review
some of the worst rooms we have ever stayed in. We were 3 couples & all of our rooms were far from luxury. In one of the rooms you couldn t walk round the bed without banging your head! We were at the front of the hotel & the traffic noise was incessant,it was most unsatisfactory.
We would stay at the hotel again but never on the 2nd floor or at the front
