Lovely stay at a beautiful hotel.
My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The outside of the hotel is impressive as are the gardens. Not a weed in sight! We visited the little church where Anne Hathaway and Shakespeare may have married. We had a lovely large room with a very comfortable bed. The staff were very well trained, helpful and friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious.
Even though a wedding was being held in the hotel we were not disturbed by any noise. The swimming pool looked very inviting but we did not have time to use it. I am sure we will stay again for longer so that we can make full use of all the facilities.

Lovely grand old house. Bar and restaurant were good. Bar was expensive. Room overlooking the fountain was nice but the mattress was too soft.
Lovely building and grounds
We had a nice short midweek break. All the staff in the hotel and spa were very friendly and any requested were sorted without a fuss. I had a nice massage in the spa. As other people have commented some of the areas are a little tired but I realise that the hotel is due for some work soon. The food in the restaurant was well presented and just the right amount for me to manage all 3 courses. More lighting in the bedrooms would be helpful to read by and internet access in the rooms was poor.
A lovely romantic break
We enjoyed a three night break at this excellent hotel. It's about to have a major refurbishment but our room was lovely, the staff were attentive and the food was excellent. The hotel is lacking quality public space but this will hopefully be addressed
Fair comment!!!
Generally an enjoyable stay. Friendly helpful staff, particularly helpful in finding a lost earring!!
Not enough restaurant staff, Breakfast on the second morning was CHAOTIC. Long queues of guests at the buffet, no bacon, no mushrooms, no tomatoes, very little scrambled egg , a couple of fried eggs, tempers became very frayed. Our bedroom was not in the main hotel(, this was because I had a disability issue, and there are no lifts in the main building, & some very steep stairs.). but a few minutes walk to the main building, not very good in the wet, although large umbrellas were readily available.
Same menu for our two night stay, but enough choice, for it not to be a problem.
Lovely grounds, stunning topiary.

Quick break away
On arrival there was no booking found leaving us a little uneasy after long journey to get there. The receptionist was quite relaxed about situation saying reservations were closed on a weekend and hadn t passed the booking through. We did get a lovely clean room it was comfortable. The Spa is in desperate need for up grade when I mentioned it to reception she said it was in process, but this does not stop the Spa changing area to be clean. There was big piles of dirty towels and the showers were dirty and hair in plugs and on the floor. The Spa wouldn t stop me from staying again I just wouldn t pack my costume.
Autumn break
Very impressive gardens and hotel building rooms were very warm and comfortable and made good use of the pool on the three days we were there found the changing rooms were cold and showers did not work in the female changing rooms but otherwise very good the restaurant was very good and the food excellent and would like to say thank you to Vivien who looked after us on the three nights for her excellent service I would advise that the hotel put some mirrors on the opposite side of the road as exiting the drive is very dangerous as you cannot see what coming until you are half way out of drive will definitely be returning in the future
