Not the luxury weekend we had expected

Elizabeth, West Yorkshire, stayed: August 2024

This weekend was an expensive birthday gift from a relative costing just short of three hundred pounds for one night. On arrival the welcoming bottle of fizz in our very basic room was not waiting for us. We had on package forty pounds each towards our evening meal and had looked online and made our choices. Only to be informed that there was a very limited set menu for us as we were on a package. The meal was dissapointing and we felt very cheated. Breakfast was excellent noting to complain about there. We also felt that the staff not being in a uniform also let the hotel down.

Worst room I have ever experienced!

Richard, stayed: September 2024

Worst room ever experienced and I travelled the world for 30 years on Company business. No opening windows. No ventilation of any sort. A/C broken but no outside vent so even if working would only circulate old stale breath of all previous occupants. Room dreadfully stuffy. Even the bathroom had no ventilation, not even an extractor fan - unbelievable! Unhealthy carbon dioxide! We had booked for three nights but had to leave after one night. My wife was ill for two days the next day. Official complaint lodged with your company and compensation for ruined holiday requested.

PS: The restaurant was excellent but that was no compensation for the dreadful roon

Poor customer service

Anon, stayed: September 2024

Booked on a deal with dinner for 2 included. It was not made clear that this was for 2 courses. Service in restaurant was poor. The offer included a bottle of fizz in room which was not there. We had to ask at the bar and asked to prove which offer we were on when a simple call to reception would have been much more customer friendly. Was told we could have the wine at table with meal but then told off by head waiter for doing this.
The buffet breakfast left a lot to be desired. No service at all

2 night break

AP, County (optional), stayed: September 2024

The hotel is an imposing building set in a beautiful landscape, very near to Stratford-on-Avon. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our double room was clean and warm with tea-making facilities. The spa is modern, with pool, jacuzzi, steam room, laconium and sauna. Towels are provided. Breakfast, both hot and cold, was plentiful. The restaurant food was also of high quality. If I had to quibble about anything, it would be lack of information regarding the spa. It is in a separate building, so you have to walk outside to get to it. Also you need 1 for a locker key, which would have been useful to know. Other than that we had a lovely relaxing weekend, and would definitely stay there again

Slow service and extremely noisy

Suzanne D, Northamptonshire, stayed: September 2024

We found the service in the restaurant poor especially in regard to the length of time it took for both our afternoon tea and evening meal to arrive. Disappointed to not have fresh ground coffee available at breakfast.

The bedroom (333) was not available until 4 which is an hour later than we expected. The room was noisy due to the noise of the pumps for the sowers when being operated in adjoining and above/below rooms.

Poor noise insulation in walls. We could almost join in the telephone conversations happening with our neighbours.

However, worst of all was being consistently being woken up by disrespectful and inconsiderate guests who I believe were on a work event and partying in a nearby room and making frequent and loud noise in the corridor chasing each other and using foul language into the early hours of the morning.

Worst nights sleep in years.

Wouldn t recommend

Anon, stayed: October 2024

The location, especially for dogs was perfect next to a huge common and the cooked breakfast was good. However, customer service was appalling, whether that be taking 5-6 times for someone to answer the phone pre-check in, attitude behind the reception desk, or in the spa - the general attitude of bar (bar a few people) was shocking. The bar food was terrible. It was overpriced for the experience and there are definitely better options available, where staff actually want you to enjoy yourself!

Fabulous relaxing stay

Ros B, West Midlands, stayed: October 2024

Had a few days break with friends. We had a fabulous time enjoying the delightful gardens and views. The food was very good and staff very helpful. Loved the architecture of the buildings and the beautiful grounds. Had a lovely room and bathroom which was so great for my disability. Very comfortable beds, very clean, very warm and cosy rooms. Loved the swimming pool, disappointed the jacuzzi was not working, nor the foot spa, nor the heated tiled loungers. The best was the heated outdoor hydro pool which was amazing. All in all a great few days was had and we came away feeling relaxed and having had a wonderful time. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Only negative was I had booked evening meal on first night and rang to confirm, but they had not got reservation booked but Stefan came and apologised and a table was quickly made up in the dining room used for breakfast and everything ok in the end.
