A winter warmer

Jan, Wrexham, stayed: January 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff were very friendly. We booked dinner bed and breakfast so were a little disappointed that the menu was the same on the second evening but we upgraded to a la carte at very little extra and the meal was brilliant.

Our affordable Downton Abbey weekend get-away

Claudia A, London, stayed: January 2015

For our 15th anniversary we were looking for a luxurious hotel within 3 hour reach to London. We had a treat a la Downton Abbey in mind... but not exactly the funds. We booked via this website a really good deal including dinner at this beautiful hunting lodge. When we arrived at Wood Norton we fell in love with the very special atmosphere in the main house: beautiful oak panelled walls and parquet floors throughout (the house felt wrapped in wood), working fireplaces, a sequence of interconnected rooms with beautiful views into the garden, tastefully furnished with inviting sofas and armchairs. It felt traditional but not stuffy and had some modern twists. On that winters day you felt just like staying there all day. Captured by that mood we decided to upgrade from our standard room in an annexe to a suite called ' The Balcony' in the main house. Amazing!! An outstanding tasteful very spacious suite. The size of the bathroom matched a London average living room by far... Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and helped us to make our special weekend even more special!

The Wood Norton weekend stay

CV, Amersham, stayed: January 2015

It is very difficult for a very busy hotel like the Wood Norton to remember that we had a special with Offpeak Luxury. There was no mention of the hot chocolate that was part of the package and although the staff were very kind, were so busy that we simply let it be.

The restaurant was also very busy and with such a full hotel, breakfast was not a relaxed affair.

So - even though I am pleased for the popularity of the hotel, we will not stay there again. We would like something smaller and more relaxing.

We say...

Thank you for submitting your review.

Despite The Wood Norton being a large hotel all customers are treated with care and there is a high level of customer service provided.
Having said that we are sorry to hear that you did not receive the welcome drink included in your package which is supplied at the bar on your request and should have been explained to you on check in. We apologise if this was not done.
When making a booking our experienced reservations team are on hand to recommend the hotels most suited to your requirements. For the future we now understand that a smaller more relaxing property would be more to your liking.

Best regards

Marvellous, relaxing, just what the doctor ordered

Julie, Worcs, stayed: December 2014

We booked the two day New Years package, which we have done in the past and been disappointed
in other hotels. We were definitely not disappointed with the Wood Norton, our room was
beautiful and everything we wanted it to be. After rushing around with the family etc., over
the Xmas period, it was just perfect.
Thank you

Amazing New Years Stay!

Joe, Holmfirth, stayed: December 2014

We stayed at The Wood Norton for New Year for a couple of days. We travelled approx. 160miles for this stay. We had previously stayed in 2013 in the Princess Louise Suite which was incredible, this time we'd opted to stay in the room next door to the suite in the main house as we wouldn't be spending much time in the room. Just as our previous stay, the hotel is clean, welcoming, attractive & relaxing. We had New Year's Eve in the main house, a 7 course meal with an amazing jazz band bubbling in the background. We love this place so much so, I proposed to my girlfriend at the stroke of midnight in the restaurant, she said yes! New Year's Day we celebrated heavily and again ate & stayed a 2nd night at the hotel. Great place, a lot of memories there for us & would recommend it to everyone! (Make sure to stay in the main house though). The grounds are very attractive. Only minor disappoint on this 2nd stay was the restaurant staff, not many spoke fluent English & the ones that did weren't very polite but that being said they were very young.
All in all a 5 star place to stay!

We say...

Firstly we would like to congratulate the happy couple on their engagement.
We are pleased to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your return visit to The Wood Norton and it brought back many great memories.
We would like to wish you both all the best.

Relaxing

Stephen, Kent, stayed: December 2014

We stayed in the Pear Tree Mews for 3 nights for the New Year, the meal was excellent, the service slow the band employed not to our liking, but it was pleasant. The whole experience was about relaxation and non hurried. The views are beautiful and I should imagine stunning in the spring.

Excellent Hotel

MM, Middlesex, stayed: November 2014

I visited with 3 girlfriends for my birthday and had a brilliant time.It was very relaxing, all the staff were very helpful.Had afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco by the open fire. I payed £20 supplement to stay in a queen room which was worth every penny. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was very luxurious. The evening dinner in the wood panelled dining room was excellent. The food could not be faulted but portions are quite small but its 5 courses so it fills you up. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.Thank you for a wonderful stay.
