For luxury and value for money you cannot beat.

Out of a party of 8 we have already told many friends & family about it. The staff were really friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us. Even though there was a wedding party on the same night as our stay we still found areas where we could settle down in comfort and relax with our drinks. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Confusion over menus

Andrea, Nottinghamshire, stayed: April 2015

The hotel was beautiful, but there seemed to be confusion over what we had booked. Our booking stated an a la carte menu and free glass of wine, the waitress twice stated that we had the £25.00 deal, where it was supposed to be £39.00, so anything we ordered would be added to our bill. Turned out that nothing was added but it certainly spoiled the holiday thinking we were going to be faced with an extra bill. We stayed for four nights and the menu was exactly the same every night, so the waitress tried to be accommodating but it was all very confusing and seemed somewhat petty! Would definitely recommend for one or two nights at the most due to the repetitive menu! Would also not recommend attending when there are weddings on as you cannot get access to the bar at times and can be a little noisy, thought about going again as it is a magnificent place but will try others instead.

We say...

Your package included a 3 course table d'hote dinner to the value of £35.00 per person and the hotel have advised that when guests stay multiple nights extra choices are offered to add variety. They are sorry that this was not done and the restaurant staff have been spoken to regarding these points to ensure they do not occur again. We understand you were not charged for the extras however we appreciate that at the time you were expecting a bill for the extras.
We do hope you still enjoyed your stay however are sorry it was not to your entire satisfaction.
We thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback.
Kind regards

Delightful wedding anniversary

Anon, stayed: April 2015

A thoroughly enjoyable place to spend a couple of nights away for our wedding anniversary. We had the 'Ultimate Romance' package with a stay in the main building - the Oak panelled room was delightful, and I haven't seen many flats smaller than the bathroom alone! The bed was close to my wife's idea of heaven, and the flowers lasted for a week or so after we got home. My (American) wife was astounded to be staying at a place previously owned by the Pretender to the Throne of France!
The dinner was superb - no course too large or overpowering, but at the end one felt comfortably replete, without being stuffed, having had a temptation to scrape the glaze off the plate in an endeavour to avoid wasting anything.
A couple of minor niggles (they had to send someone out to buy an extension cord so that I could plug in my CPAP machine which I need to sleep, they weren't able to advise very well on what to see locally, and it seemed petty to charge extra for a couple of the dishes at breakfast), but generally close to perfect.

Lovely Room and Beautiful Hotel

JB, Bristol, stayed: April 2015

We stayed in the Duc D'Orleans suite and wasn't disappointed, the room was spacious and well appointed with luxury! The food was very good and we were pleased overall with the choice. The only thing that may have let it down slightly was the overall service was not quite attentive as some of the other 4 star hotels offer. Apart from that the hotel itself is beautifully presented with lots of period detail.
