Amazing
We had the best time
Highly recommend. Book room 6 was beautiful.
Lovely break, fab location
Really enjoyed our recent stay at the Crown and Thistle. My husband and I managed to wangle a kid free long weekend so wanted some down time and we certainly got that. We found the car park no problem and checked into our lovely room with no issues. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the sleepy town and surrounding area. The breakfasts were superb - such a treat to have eggs benedict. The only downside if I had to fault something was the shower which wasn t always a constant temperature but not a real problem. Thanks for making our rare escape away a good one leaving us fully refreshed after a stressful few months
Not my idea of luxury
We were greeted at reception by a lovely, friendly team member. However proceeding to our room up a steep narrow staircase and hallway our expectations began to wilt. The paintwork is dark and chipped, the carpets dirty and worn. The bedroom was OK, but the bathroom with shower over bath had paintwork peeling off the wall. The window had single glazing so being on a main road was noisy. This was not my idea of luxury.
Great staff
Staff and food best thing about this hotel they were friendly and food great , downside room was small , but clean and ok , two big steep flights of stairs to reach room so maybe check if your not hood with stairs
Bedroom ambiance
The hotel was fab, restaurant fab, ROOM 7 a disgrace bad heating, poor quality bedding, bathroom wall and ceiling the paint was peeling off, room small, noise from machines etc (which started both mornings at 6.30am) outside windows horrendous.
We are looking for a hotel to visit every 3 months in Abingdon and the Crown and Thistle and Room 7 doesn t come up to our standards, which is a shame.
I have a video of the bathroom wall/ceiling if you re interested
Crown and Thistle
Polite and friendly service throughout our stay. The food was good, especially the freshly cooked breakfast.
Well situated in the town with free parking.
A short but memorable stay
We only stayed for two nights but everything about or stay was excellent, from the friendly staff, comfortable room and superior service not to mention the wonderful food. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
Charming market town hotel
Lovely olde world hotel set in centre of Abingdon which itself is a great and busy market town. Bedoom was a bit bijou but large bathroon made up for it. Food was excellent with a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Would certainly recommend and would be happy to return in the future.
