Lovely relaxing short break at the Bear of Rodborough

Had stayed here 4 years ago and loved it. Some great improvements to the garden make it ideal for summer weddings. Our recent stay was very relaxing. Lovely old bar area with real fire & restaurant, both serving great food made for a stress free break.

Warm welcome

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Bear at Rodborough. Staff excellent. Food very good - particularly the breakfast. Our room was very luxurious. We loved the location and enjoyed a lovely walk on the common amongst the cows and along the canal. we found the booking process with off peak luxury frustrating as the headline rates were often not available for our preferred dates (despite them being in October). It took us a long time to find a suitable stay despite having 300 to spend.

Brilliant staff

Our stay was so relaxing. The hotel is cosy, warm and inviting. Lovely area and Stroud is a lovely town to walk around. Lots of little shops that you can browse through.

From the moment we entered The Bear at Rodborough, we had the impression of it being very spacious and roomy, yet also cosy and intimate. A great combination. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. We dined in the hotel on both evening and thoroughly enjoyed the meals on both occasions; well presented, plentiful portions and helpfully served. We loved our weekend getaway!

We had a really lovely relaxing break at the Bear. Would highly recommend the slightly more expensive four poster rooms, it was well worth that little bit extra. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The garden was also lovely to sit and admire the view with a drink before dinner. Overall really good value for money, would definitely return next year.
