Fab Weekend
The bedroom was quite small ,but the bed was large and comfortable. We managed to get a good deal on a booking site whereby the overall cost included dinner one night,a glass of prosecco on arrival and a cream tea one afternoon. On checking in we were told that the sparkly could be had with our dinner on the second night of our stay, this was only a small point but contributed to a very relaxing weekend. The breakfasts were good and the dinner on our second night was excellent. The location of the hotel is ideal, you can walk from the hotel to the commons and also meander through the villages and country lanes behind the hotel. Overall a magical weekend away.

Outstanding Weekend
My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel and a warm welcome on arrival set the scene for the rest of the stay. The polite and friendly staff were quietly attentive and gave good advice on eating late following the excellent afternoon tea! The restaurant menu choice was very good and the exceptionally presented food tasted delicious. The bar had a good selection of ales and inviting areas to sit with log fires that enticed you to relax. Our room was tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The hotel is well situated within a short drive from numerous places of interest. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Nothing special
Booked the deal that included dinner, cream tea, prosecco etc but was not offered any of the extras apart from dinner.
Dinner was not great, so wish now that I had booked just a room or even a different hotel.
Just because you use good expensive ingredients doesn't mean that the food is well prepared. Why ask how you want the beef fillet when you serve it completely dry and overbooked anyway? For £250 for 2 nights, you can get something much better in a better location.
This place has the potential to be nice and welcoming, but its just not.
Everything could be improved here from service, food, decor.
A perfect birthday weekend
Arrived at the bear to a very friendly welcome which continued throughout our stay. I cannot fault the staff and the way they made our stay perfect, from the front of house, restaurant, bar and room service.
The very special touch was my birthday card, handwritten from all the staff, which really touched me.
Would I return, definitely and have recommended it to all our friends and family.
