My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay and couldn't fault the service and food. Overall a fantastic place to stay. Reception staff also helped us plan places to stop off and visit on our way home. Perfect

Lovely stay

Claire R, Cardiff, stayed: March 2015

We stayed at The Bear for 1 night in March 2015. It is a lovely hotel and the food was great. We only ate in the main restaurant but the food in the bar looked really good too. Our room was fab, luckily we don't like baths though as only a shower in the bathroom! Would go back.

48 hours at the Bear of Rodborough

DK, Surrey, stayed: February 2015

We had a two night romantic break at the hotel which was really outstanding value for money. The room was perfect and beautifully appointed with champagne and chocolates awaiting us. The food and restaurant facilities were excellent and the cream teas included in the package absolutely delicious. The bar area was cosy with lovely staff and great ambience.
The surrounding countryside was absolutely stunning and lots of events and attractions were nearby to visit if we had been there longer.
The hotel also takes dogs by arrangement and has a winery right next door with a fabulous array of wines and local artwork for sale.
We would highly recommend this hostelry and will definitely return .

Lovely relaxing place to celebrate my husband's birthday. Comfortable rooms, cosy bar, good food, and a beautiful walk on Rodborough Common right outside the door after an excellent breakfast.

January 2015 stay at The Bear of Rodborough

Michael B, Newbury, stayed: January 2015

We stayed at the hotel as part of a family celebration and hence did not choose the hotel. Our expectation before arriving was quite low. Some of the marketing material, particularly the drab photograph of the exterior that is dominated by cows was very unsettling. We were thus very pleasantly surprised when we arrived, The public areas are excellent with a fantastic ambience. The upgraded room was excellent as was the bed. The food was very good, most of the dishes were excellent, although one or two less so like the chicken starter that we all agreed was disappointing. The staff were very helpful throughout. If it helps, when you serve coffee in tall glasses, please make sure the spoons are long enough to reach the bottom of the glass. A small point but it reveals attention to detail. All in all an excellent stay.

Lovely staff. Super restaurant and friendly bar. Well situated for moors walks. Wine shop makes for an interesting (and tasty) addition. Recommended.
