Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel.
Feel the bar menu was a bit overpriced. We are in the restaurant both nights, the food was nice however was just warm and not hot.
We also found it frustrating that when we was in the snug trying to keep warm by the fire that the receptionist who was in at the time kept coming g and opening both doors that lead through, letting a draft blow through. My partner kept having to get up and close the doors. This was the weekend of this storm so a gale was blowing through and as the hotel is old so there was plenty of drafts.
I think this hotel would be lovely to visit in warmer weather as they have a lovely outside patio area.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly.

Summer Short break
Lovely time, great food and outside spaces. Nice rooms in the main house, although a little hot in the summer with noisy road with open windows.

Great location & characterful accommodation
The Bear is certainly well located for walkers such as myself & my family, with many options both straight out the door and within short driving distance. It is also particularly well located for real ale fans, with a huge number of excellent pubs close by, as well as nice towns & villages (Cirencester, Nailsworth, Bibury etc). The hotel itself is very welcoming & characterful, with log fires and a general atmosphere of relaxation and comfort. Both staff and food were pleasant rather than excellent, although the breakfast was good. The room (I shared a twin with my son) was small but clean & comfortable, in a building adjacent to the main hotel. Very dog friendly too.
