Disappointed with room ,bedside light not working, hanging off wall, room radiator not working, bathroom mirror light not working also hanging off ,bathroom heated towel rail not working, bathroom fan not working. First day my wife and I got locked in our room!!! (Faulty lock) no information book in room ,no number for reception, had to ring hotel number to get reception!! When we were let out we were told "that this happens to room 15 as well!!!!! Just glad we didn't have a fire.
On arrival we were told that rooms weren't being cleaned unless we asked for it to be done (staff shortage) no lift ,quite a struggle up the stairs with the suitcases (no offer of help) (we are both in our midd seventys. Electrics dropped out twice as well (thought the kettle had gone wrong) Disappointed with the whole weekend

Lovely country hotel

The main thing we enjoyed about this hotel was the food!! We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was exceptional with attentive staff.
The room was a good size and well equipped although the bed was a little uncomfortable.
All in all we would stay again.

No review title

Reception was good. The room had a badly fitted to the wall bedside lamp which was almost dangling and the other had the wrong bulb in it.
The staff in the restaurant didn t listen to the requests fully and appeared with bits of the order wrong or missing. It s a shame as it s so important and costs nothing.

Lovely location

Great visit to a hotel I visited many years ago on business, however this time on a romantic break. Wonderful location with free range cows! Atmospheric building full of characture, lovely room with four poster. Food was lovely, will definitely be back.

Lovely weekend

Myself and my wife stayed at the Bear of Rodborough for a two night break, the staff were excellent, room was extremely comfortable, restaurant and food was excellent and the setting is exceptional. I miss waking up to the sound of cows outside my window. We very much look forward to returning.

Extremely affordable unique experience

Having been on several short breaks during the last few months, I would like to compliment you on the standard of the hotel buildings and more so, the incredible pleasant and helpful staff across all areas. Our stays this year have all been in the UK and with some of the major brands, none have come close to the personal touches offered by your property.

Reception, bar and restaurant staff all showed a great degree of caring and politeness, something missing on many of our other stays. Poor service and standards have been justified by the impact of the pandemic on the industry which I appreciate has been an issue but not so at your hotel where everything was faultless including the quality and availability of the food.

If I could offer some constructive criticism I would but fortunately for us, I have nothing to highlight.

We re really looking forward to out next visit and hope to manage a two night stay on the next occasion to take full advantage of the surrounding area and your hospitality.
