Fantasic hotel. Really deserves the five stars. Great service
Recent stay at Ellenborough Park Hotel
This was a special family gift for our birthdays which did not turn out as we exactly as expected because of the following drawbacks . 1)No glasses of champagne on arrival as stipulated. 2) Lack of shower cabinet in room and to expect older guests to step into a high and narrow bath to shower without even a bath mat provided was positively dangerous ! 3) On ordering wine for dinner at the Horse Box I distinctly ordered and got merlot house wine priced at 24. On checking out I was informed that we had Malbec at 37 . Rubbish but I suggest one of your reception staff has an attitude problem. 4) At breakfast we were seated, given menu and not informed that cooked English was available in an adjacent room !!
Pure Bliss
I stayed at the Ellenborough with a friend so we could relax and recoup. Having stayed in some pretty amazing hotels in my time and this is up there, did not disappoint in any way. The staff were so helpful, polite and professional, very attentive. The hotel itself is just stunning, pure style, old meets new. The decor does the age of the property justice. The library, have a look, it's quite something. I think the house itself which dates back to 1487, don't quote me, that's a Wikepedia fact. I had two treatments in the spa, a massage with Anna, one of the best I've ever had. Dinner was exceptional. My friend and I wanted to meet the chef to say thanks, he was a little shy that night. If I was being super picky, two areas they might pay more attention to; the non existant range of grown up alcohol free drinks and the pillows were a little hard. But you know what? This is being really picky.
Our mini moon
We arrived on Sunday 5th May as we got married on Sat 4th but unfortunately due to full capacity we couldn't get an upgrade.
The room was still nice and the bar staff/waiters were lovely and very knowledgeable but I think i probably got my hopes up about an upgraded room as this is what generally happens with honey mooners .
Perfect for a Night Away
As a brief escape from the kids, the hotel was perfect - we arrived early on Sunday and were able to enjoy the newspapers and a coffee in peace; we then used the spa, great treatments and given its small size much more personal than most; all the staff and service we received was of a good quality and delivered with a smile; the food was of a good quality throughout (both the bar and the main restaurants); we had certain other requests that were all dealt with swiftly and without fuss
Wonderful stay, Fantastic Breakfast
My Daughter and I had the most wonderful ,spoilt and pampered day, good food in the evening, drinks served by friendly efficient, knowledgeable staff. Room was a delight, catered for your every need. Shower amazing. Breakfast was an absolute delight. The best ever. We had the most amazing time thankyou.
Lovely hotel but let down by the limited and expensive menu
Great hotel in a prime Cotswold location. Our only gripe was the over-priced and limited menu in the main restaurant, and the relative cost for not much extra choice or quantity in the lesser restaurant. The latter is essentially pub food at stupid prices, around 50 per head. The upscale restaurant will set you back 60+ per head for minute quantities albeit beautifully presented and served. Add in overpriced wines and you can kiss goodbye to a minimum 100 per head. It is just not worth it.
