Interesting Place

Anon, stayed: November 2024

We were looking forward to our stay this interesting period hotel - especially its architectural features and it's William Morris windows.

The staff were lovely, the food was fine, but the hotel itself is the pervasive smell of 'rising damp' detracts from the ambience.

Not a luxury destination

Anon, stayed: October 2024

The only luxury was the half-bottle of champagne in the room! A disappointing stay. The hotel is tired. The upholstery in public rooms is soiled. Carpets throughout the building are stained. At dinner on our first night one starter and three mains were unavailable. We dined at 8.00 pm and the guests on a coach were already in the dining room. Obviously, the chef hadn't allowed sufficient food choices for all guests. Salt and pepper squid were overcooked and hard. Alcohol was reasonably priced. Breakfast offered a good choice and was well-cooked. Bed throw was marked. Bed linens were white and towels soft, although one had a hole in it. Staff were efficient and friendly.

This Hotel has a little bit everything

Mark, Dorset, stayed: October 2024

The hotel is well kept, clean and up to date.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout. They genuinely cared about the guest experience.
The room we had was a bit quirky, in a good way with a large shelf and window overlooking the gardens.
We had an afternoon tea in one of the pods which we would highly recommend.
The breakfast was very good.
The dinner menu is a bit basic and more like pub food choices, although the quality was very good.
Some nice walks directly from the hotel.
