In The Heart Of Warwickshire

David Macklin, stayed: February 2025

Some interesting architectural features, eg fireplace, panelling
Beautiful views across the formal gardens and golf course.
My meal was excellent, cod with prawn sauce, but my wife needed more vegetarian options .
Good variety for breakfast, but keeping food hot over-cooked the fried eggs. Difficult I know.
Our room was comfortable and spacious, shower over bath not the best for us, but plenty of hot water.
The staff we met were helpful and polite, no complaints, only praise.
Charlecote Manor is nearby and worth a visit (National Trust)

Comfortable place for a short holiday

We enjoyed Welcombe Hotel and its wonderful location. However, we expected the staff to be more friendly and willing to provide the services we paid for.

Nice Location on land previously owned by William Shakespeare this is a well appointed Country House type of hotel with lovely gardens and a separate Golf club. The Spa was enjoyable and would have been excellent had all the facilities been working.
Room was OK - good on a wing of an extension with a view of a bank. Restaurant was nice with great service (Thanks) but a fairly limited menu - but no-one seemed to know what tariff we were supposed to be on but I managed to sort the misunderstandings out. Cost of wine was beyond extortionate I'm afraid which was self defeating as no one appeared to be sharing bottles- a shame because the food in the evening and at breakfast was of a good standard.
The Hotel is well organised and centrally situated for some very enjoyable visits and is about 1 mile outside Stratford.
Overall a good experience despite a few niggles - we'd go again

Valentines short break

Martin H, Derbyshire, stayed: February 2025

It is an older type of retreat but the quality of rooms could be better. We were amazed although an old property there could be no lift and no help to get baggage to an upper floor. We did enjoy the spar but some of the facilities needed maintenance. We did enjoy the food in the restaurant. It is a very nice location.

Cosy and relaxing break

KT, Worcestershire, stayed: December 2024

We stayed for a night in the hotel and had a day in the spa too. It has a lovely cosy and welcoming atmosphere as you enter the hotel. We was given our room key by a nice receptionist and was very impressed with the room and distance from the restaurant and reception. We had a lovely man show us to our room and carry my friends bags. The waiter who bought us our wine poured it for us and was very polite. The dinner was really nice and the waitresses were very friendly. The nights sleep was comfortable and satisfactory. The breakfast had lots of choice and was an enjoyable experience.
The spa needs some tlc- worn out loungers and rusty handrails. Robes were very thin and soak up water easily leaving them cold and uncomfortable. Outside spa pool was cold. The changing rooms are very slippery and I slid on the tiles as they have no grip in the main area. The rest of the spa is lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would return.

Hotel spectacular, spa needs attention to customer service

LJ, Staffordshire, stayed: February 2025

A beautiful hotel & grounds. Restaurant & food were exemplary. Beautiful evening meal & good breakfast choice Booked a one night spa break for myself, Mum, Aunt & Daughter. Quite bedrooms, good beds & plenty of hot water Unfortunately the spa experience let us down. First a mix up with treatment bookings, meant several attempts to resolve with two treatments not available after booking system & telephone conversations both failed to secure slots. The foot spas were out of order & the outdoor whirlpool was shut for half the day due to chlorine imbalance. Towels & robes need replacing as very tired. We were given a complimentary afternoon tea to compensate when I complained. The girls who carried out our treatments were nice & professional. Body massage was the strong point of the day.
