About the Cotswolds
The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled regions in England, with high, wooded hills and sweeping valleys dotted with charming, timeless villages of honey-coloured stone cottages.
Cheltenham
Cheltenham is a lively spa town with an excellent range of shops, restaurants, fine architecture and museums.
The famous town springs were discovered in 1716 and led to the development of the town into a vibrant summer resort. High society began to build rows of attractive Regency homes around the Pitville Pump Room, a Grade I Listed Building with an elegant dome where the waters can still be sampled.
Cheltenham has a number of attractive parks and museums including The Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum – which houses a display of the Cotswolds Arts and Crafts Movements – and Holst Birthplace Museum.
The main Promenade is home to a number of quality fashion houses and the Cavendish House department store. The elegant Town Hall is now a major concert venue and is surrounded by the beautiful Imperial Gardens.
Montpelier Walk has an interesting variety of boutique shops, including pavement cafes, craft shops, delicatessens and designer boutique stores.
