Not a 'luxury hotel', stayed in better Premier Inns!!!

Colin, Gwent, stayed: June 2024

Situated in middle of town centre. Reception area frequently unmanned. Dining is in pub across alley. Dinner service was not the best, waited ages to be offered a menu. Food was good but a very long wait. Our room was okay but very badly let down by ill-fitting bedding. The quilt did not even cover the bed and the sheet, again, did not cover the bed meaning it did not come to edge of bed leaving mattress totally exposed on edge and side of bed, really bad.

I was disappointed in the room we were allocated. I had booked a superior double room but was told at check in that my requested room was not available. Instead we were allocated a small room on the top floor with a sloping ceiling and attic windows. the room was clearly not superior. Also we were not offered tea and cake on arrival as promised. I was not offered a reduction on the price which should have been offered as I did not get what I had paid extra for. perhaps you could sort that out for me.
We did enjoy the restaurant and most of the staff we very friendly.
I look forward to your response.

We say...

Thank you for your review.

We are sorry to hear the incorrect room was allocated, we have contacted the hotel and we will be issuing you a partial refund shortly.

We are also sorry the tea and cake on arrival was not offered, if you had of asked, the hotel would have happily provided this, unfortunately it was missed by the staff on duty that day.  The hotel has agreed to a partial refund for this as well.

Kind regards,

Cotswold Hotel Breaks

Hotel was not what we thought it was going to be like it looks posh from the photos but actually it is just a pub with rooms and restaurant.
We did take along better clothes or dresses etc but could not wear them.
It was overpriced for the stay we feel and was not value for money

The staff were very friendly and attentive, however the owner let them down and did not go out of their way to speak.

The room was good but a little more attention to dusting on skirting boards was needed.

Breakfast fresh and good.

Hotel is in the heart of the town, but be aware, NO car parking! Wasn't made aware at the time of booking. There are short stay car parks nearby (pay) or a free long stay car park about a 8-10 minute walk away (by railway museum). Food in the restaurant (evening) was good, Breakfast adequate. "Upgraded" room, but am oblivious as to what was the upgrade? Tetbury is worth visiting, and so is the surrounding areas.

Nice Stay

SG, Worcestershire, stayed: January 2023

Probably not the luxury stay I was hoping I had paid for but it was OK. Staff at check in were really helpful and friendly. Room was a bit tired, too hot and bed very soft (which I know some people would like).
Dinner on the night was excellent
Breakfast the next morning was a different experience with not enough staff it took about an hour and during that time we saw people walking out having waited 30 mins before being served.
Hotel is right in the centre of town so ideal for other pubs and places to visit. Recommend the railway shed cafe and free long stay car park at the same location
Will probably stick to AirBnB in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay including Ted our Frenchie who was made to feel very welcome .
Food was delicious and the room had all the facilities with a very comfy bed. Definitely recommend especially for dog owners too
