Very Bad Room Very Unhappy
Bedroom was in the attic, up very steep and narrow stairs, very difficult to navigate. Room tiny, so small sink in bedroom and no storage space. Had to wade through luggage on floor Went home a day early. As we left we saw other bedrooms on lower floor which were lovely.
Felt we had been shoved in a bucklet list room. Will noy use your service again

Slightly disappointed not to find a comfortable lounge to sit in and relax after a day of sightseeing in the local area, so had to return to our own room each day. This meant that we had little or no chance to meet other guests. I
Even in the Main Bar of the Hotel, there were no lounge facilities-just one or two people drinking and using their own computers - so there was little or no communication with any other guests, during our
3-day visit to Abington
Dining Room Staff were pleasant and helpful, but with no comfortable chairs and / or coffee tables we didn t feel that there was much of an ambience at The Crown and Thistle. We would not recommend this Hotel to any of our friends or family unfortunately.
Not what we had expected or hope for
Arrival, car park spaces too small, no one on reception and did not arrive when call button activated
Room, tired, not 100%clean 3rd bed very uncomfortable
During stay, never anyone on reception bar staff friendly enough but so slow people were waiting so long, maybe more bar staff. Restaurant more pub grub than restaurant
All in all a bad time when it was suppose to be so nice definitely not luxury in any way
After such a fantastic start with booking staff, who were super helpful
Not my idea of luxury
We were greeted at reception by a lovely, friendly team member. However proceeding to our room up a steep narrow staircase and hallway our expectations began to wilt. The paintwork is dark and chipped, the carpets dirty and worn. The bedroom was OK, but the bathroom with shower over bath had paintwork peeling off the wall. The window had single glazing so being on a main road was noisy. This was not my idea of luxury.
Great staff
Staff and food best thing about this hotel they were friendly and food great , downside room was small , but clean and ok , two big steep flights of stairs to reach room so maybe check if your not hood with stairs
Bedroom ambiance
The hotel was fab, restaurant fab, ROOM 7 a disgrace bad heating, poor quality bedding, bathroom wall and ceiling the paint was peeling off, room small, noise from machines etc (which started both mornings at 6.30am) outside windows horrendous.
We are looking for a hotel to visit every 3 months in Abingdon and the Crown and Thistle and Room 7 doesn t come up to our standards, which is a shame.
I have a video of the bathroom wall/ceiling if you re interested

The hotel was looking a little tired but was clean.
All staff were pleasant polite and helpful
The restaurant was a nice ambience and thd food was excellent
Our stay was sadly blighted by thd room that we were given thd room was extremely small with a three quarter bed which was cramped by myself and wife the room also had a wash basin which took up the limited space
It's a shame about the room as I don't think we would stay here again solely because thd experience
Charming old coaching Inn
Centrally located in the town close to the river with free parking. Restaurant was really good - both for breakfast and dinner. Staff in all areas were very friendly and helpful. In general bar/restaurant area was good but hotel area needs some TLC. Had a lovely weekend break here.
