Nice stay with a great golf course

Shaun, Devon, stayed: June 2019

My wife and I stay in this area on a regular basis and usually stay at the Hilton Puckrup Hall for the golf. This course is better. The room we had was clean and standard for this level of hotel with all the usual bits and pieces. Breakfast was OK although on our second breakfast it was a bit of a bun fight due to the hotel being full, we waited 20 mins before I had to ask someone to serve us tea and coffee. It wouldn't take much to lift the breakfast to another level.

Thank you for posting your review and sharing your experience of Tewkesbury Park. Whilst we're pleased you enjoyed your visit, we have noted your experience of breakfast and clearly we need to work hard to address the challenges of managing the experience with such large numbers of guests. We're always looking at lifting everything we do and taking it to new heights, and I'm confident we'll achieve this.

In the meantime, thank you for choosing Tewkesbury Park and we're delighted that you enjoyed our golf course, which has enjoyed similar investment to that of the main property by our family owners.

With best wishes

A good hotel, more suited for the golfing Fraternity.

PRJ, West Glamorgan, stayed: June 2019

An established hotel, set amongst the golfing greens. The better rooms are situated in the main hotel building,a corridor leads to an annexe of smaller rooms, well equipped with views of the greens.
An excellent restaurant in the main building, where we dined in the evening and had breakfast ,one of the best we have experienced.
Staff friendly and courteous, food excellent, and not too long waiting for the courses.
A 20 minute walk to the town.
If we stayed again,we would favour the main building to the annexe outside ,as it looked a bit dated and the long corridors a bit tired,ok for a golfing weekend but not for a romantic one.

Lovely views

Anon, stayed: May 2019

First the positives: Room was clean and bed comfy with beautiful views. Breakfast was good - nice buffet.

Negatives: Room was not very well sound-proofed and we were disturbed by the constant slamming of the heavy doors of other rooms and the cupboards (which don't have soft close). Evening meal was 'so so' - nothing really wrong but curiously tasteless. It arrived very quickly and extremely hot so I guess was microwaved. The drinks service lagged well behind the extremely speedy food service so our wine which was ordered when the starters plates were taken away didn't arrive until the main course had been eaten. The hotel is dog friendly - my fault for not reading that bit in the hotel description- but a bit off putting to think dogs might have been in the bedroom and sat on blankets etc (they weren't allowed in the restaurant though thank goodness). Pool very small.

Thank you for your review and I wanted to assure you that we consider and act upon all reviews. Naturally, we'd love it when all reviews are great but actually, it makes us better when we learn about things we might not have noticed. So, to put your mind at rest, we'll be working on any banging doors along the corridors and to the bedrooms so that this won't be a problem in the future. We've identified a cam-action door closer, which will provide a much softer-close to doors and resolve this issue.

I'm so sorry to hear that you'd rate the food as "so so". We need to be better than this but one thing's for sure - there will be no microwaving main courses at this property. We make everything fresh from great ingredients and work with local and regional suppliers. The mise en place takes place throughout each day so that meals can be ordered and served within an acceptable time during our guests' meal experience. However, we must improve drinks service if we didn't bring this together with the food served.

Finally, rest assured that, although we're dog friendly, these are carefully restricted. Dogs are only allowed in our piano lounge and guests have to dine in this lounge, if they wish to be with their dog. There are specified bedrooms for dogs and dog owners, not used for other guests without dogs. These rooms are specifically designed and deep cleaned daily but you can be assured you weren't in one of these and no dog would have occupied your room prior to you staying.

We hope this puts your mind at rest and look forward to welcoming you again. Thank you for the feedback, which will help us to improve.

Best wishes

Outstanding Quality.

RJV, West Midlands, stayed: May 2019

The design and effort which has gone into the refurbishment of Tewksbury Park Hotel is in evidence from your arrival in Reception and is maintained in all areas throughout the Hotel.
The whole ethos is on quality, quality of furnishings in public areas and even more so in bedrooms and bathrooms. The standard of housekeeping in guests rooms was unsurpassed in our 40 years of hotel experience, Well done staff. Restaurant breakfast waitresses were excellent in respect of just the right amount of attention and observation of tables which needed clearing or laying up.
Lunchtime bar menu was good value. Dinner menu was well put together by the chef with a dash of adventure thrown in.Check it out. All this must filter down from the man at the top, Other hoteliers note the following two words Investment and Refurbishment. On a personal note I think the hotel name should be more prominent above the Reception entrance (illuminated)? Also one or two of the special offers could be a little more flexible, option of dinner on the second evening instead of afternoon tea.
The views from the Restaurant on a sunny day are a joy.
Return is already pencilled in, future offers being noted.
