Not quite as expected but good nonetheless!

Bryan H, Hertfordshire, stayed: August 2023

Really pleasant and helpful staff welcome you to this small hotel. The lobby, bar and restaurant area have clearly been updated in the not too distant past and are all comfortable and relaxing.

The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean and the bed offers a great night's sleep. Our bathroom was in need of updating although having said that everything worked really well and as with the bedroom, it was gleaming clean.

I felt that the drinks in the bar were a tad expensive, the evening meals were mid range price wise however be prepared for a wait as the meals are cooked fresh, which for me was no bad thing. My Chicken Masala was a bit watery...... The breakfast was very good and tasty, not to be missed.

There was a lack of communication between Cotswold Hotel Breaks (CHB) and Pettifers on one particular point which was a little annoying and whose fault lay with CHB, but it didn't really distract from a pleasant stay.

Lovely break

Anon, stayed: April 2024

We stayed in the family courtyard room with a double bed and two singles. The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. My only complaint was the noise from water pipes when anyone else in the building used water, it woke us in the night. The staff were friendly, breakfast was super. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Pettifers hotel

Anon, stayed: September 2023

Staff were friendly and helpful but seemed very stretched. Breakfasts were excellent (especially weekend menu). Evening menu was nicely cooked, but rather limited, especially for my GF wife. Food prices were slightly above average (we had a superb meal at another pub in the village for less). Room was ok with a large comfortable bed, but the bathroom was a little shabby and the shower was just about adequate. Location was very handy for Malmesbury and Cirencester with many interesting places to visit nearby.

Hotel on busy road

Jenny, Leicestershire, stayed: June 2024

Although the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was on a busy road and we had to sleep with the windows closed.

Bad service

Anon, stayed: May 2024

Entire place shabby and needs updating. Restaurant service dreadful, after booking shown our table reluctantly, 10 minutes later no menu s or drinks despite ordering at the bar. After 30 minutes no menu s or drinks walked out. Breakfast was a make do affair. No continental, no fresh fruit, everything fried for cooked breakfast swimming in oil.
