Overnight stay in a spa room
Lovely hotel, very pretty with gorgeous grounds. The spa is just lovely, very clean and our bedroom was within the spa building and it was luxurious. The lady who gave me my facial was professional and polite and the lady on reception for check out was very courteous too. We were in the brasserie and the food was good but they really need to train their staff to a higher standard. Forgotten bread and having to ask for things let it down but I will certainly stay at this hotel again.
disappointing not encouraged to use maim hotel breakfast served in spa poor evening meal away from h
disappointing as breakfast served in spa not enough choice very bitty also evening meal served in conservatory not very smart. In fact we only went into main hotel to pay our bill it looked lovely but we were really not allowed to eat in there so advert quite misleading as we thought we were staying in Mallery Court Hotel.
Huge potential but let down by spa and brasserie
We stayed overnight at Mallory Court, the welcome was outstanding and we were shown to our room, the grounds on the way were lovely, very English Country House. Room was beautiful with lots of extra touches, supremely comfortable bed.
The downside, the spa was loud, full of day guests and what appeared to be a hen do, or birthday. Hotel guests are very much secondary to day guests.
The brasserie food was outstanding, but the brasserie itself is not at all indulgent, tables are very close together, there is no atmosphere and there is no background music so conversation from any table could be overheard. Such a shame as we loved the room and the hotel, but it's an odd mixture of old country charm and luxury, mixed with noisy spa and a spa cafe that serves wine and beer in plastic glasses, even if your not drinking outside. Breakfast is taken in the spa cafe, and neither of us got what we ordered. I ordered waffles with pancetta and maple syrup, but got waffles with golden syrup and mixed berries, as they had run really acceptable. Lovely hotel, huge potential but wouldn't stay again.
Exhorbitant charges for extras marred superb service
First class service and food in restaurant was superb.
Unfortunately, service and tray charges were excessive as was the price of drinks.
45 for a bottle of Pinot Grigio
Rose and 6 for small bottle of beer 330ml.
Also, disappointed by extra charge for use of the spa.
Finally, our room above the spa pool was very hot. We only found air conditioning switch in obscure spot in the entrance lobby.
A fan was supplied, in fairness.
In summary, a delightful experience, however over pricing spoiled this and we would not go back.
Beautiful building, amazing staff, lumpy bed
The title says it all really. Its a really beautiful place, nice views, good sized rooms. The staff were the most friendly and attentive I have ever experienced, could not fault them at all. The only thing that let down our visit was the mattress which had two large dips in it, one on either side. It felt like you were trying to sleep on the edge of a precipice. It was disappointing for such a nice hotel. I would stay again though it this issue was resolved.
