Long weekend

Graham, Surrey, stayed: February 2022

We stayed here for 3 nights with another couple and enjoyed the weekend. 3 nights was too long in the restaurant as the menu didn't change and was not very extensive. also the 1.5 hour wait for our main course was unacceptable particularly when we told they were busy with a party. we were offered a free bottle of wine to compensate for the wait but it shouldn't have happened.
The room however was great, we had a luxury room at the top of the tower which involved 63 steps. Superb views when we got there though. The swimming pool was great and the spa was also nice but quite small.

A Grand hotel with lots of style but the spa was a bit sparse

Michael M, West Sussex, stayed: February 2020

A luxurious hotel with lovely well equipped rooms, however the spa was very small , the sauna/steam room and jaquzi only designed for 6 people max at a time, so could get very crowded. also the pool was outdoors and you have to walk around the building in your robe to reach so hope it doesn't rain. Finally the gynm was again very small , 1 bike 4 pieces of weight equipment and 2 treadmills so 4 people easily causes congestion.

Beautiful and charming, perfect for a family escape

KJ, Berkshire, stayed: December 2021

We enjoyed our stay at the Ellenborough Park Hotel. The setting is beautiful, the main building is very charming with lots of history which the staff very kindly gave us a brief tour on. The rooms are a bit tired in places but very spacious and the bathroom was lovely with a really nice bath. The food in the two restaurants is good but would benefit from having different menus for each restaurant to give more choice. The spa is small but good and the choice of treatments is very good, I really enjoyed my facial and massage. The outdoor heated pool is great and the children loved it. The location is fantastic for walks in the countryside but also easy access to Cheltenham. Overall a lovely family long weekend away, I would go back and recommend it.

We had 2 meals in the restaurant as the bistro could not accommodate us the first night.  The first night's meal was excellent from service to food. Unfortunately, the second night's meal was a disaster. Very slow service, staggered arrival of meals and the same limited menu.

Birthday weekend away

Claire A, Oxfordshire, stayed: October 2020

Had the most abating night away at Ellenborough Park. What a beautiful despite the torrential rain all weekend.
Our room was so comfortable and lovely. We were taken to our room by a really friendly chatty gentleman who told us all about the history of the hotel.
Our only gripe was the restaurant food. The fine dining restaurant is currently closed due to the cove but we were happy with the More limited menu we were given.
We chose Chateaubriand as a treat and although the meat was good quality and cooked well it was stone the triple cooked chips and clearly been fried in a very old chip fat so they smelt and tasted like that old greasy spoon cafe chip which was very odd putting.
Definitely expected better!!!
Didn t want to spoil the evening meal or weekend with sending it back ...but in hindsight should have bought it to their attention at the time.
