3 night break

CD, Norfolk, stayed: August 2020

We had a lovely large room and food was good and staff very helpful. Regarding COVID practice this hotel does need to do a lot more to make it safe, didn t always feel comfortable regarding this. We did complain about a few things we noticed regarding COVID practice, the main problem was the amount of people doing the eat out Wednesday and that we needed to walk through them to get to the restaurant. This has now finished. We felt some tables were too close and the restaurant was way to warm and humid to be safe. When we told them about this they moved us to a table we felt more comfortable with for the rest of our stay and made sure the small windows above the door were open.

Corse Lawn House Hotel says...

I am so sorry you had a problem with the amount of people sitting outside and in the drawing rooms on the eat out scheme, We found it difficult ourselves, and they were difficult to distance too. Had we known, we would not have joined the scheme, but we felt that Richie Sunak had done so much for hospitality that we should say thank you by being a part
of the scheme. We do have all our tables distanced at two meters, and most of our guests are comfortable with this. We are taking a great many precautions, and I am really sorry to hear that you were not quite happy, and I agree about the
warmth in the restaurant, but guests keep closing windows and doors, which makes it tricky! However, we are getting better with practise!!

Complete relaxation

Christopher, Berkshire, stayed: August 2020

From the warm and friendly welcome, to the delights of the restaurant and the peaceful tranquillity of a spacious room, the Corse Lawn House provided an ideal environment to relax and (as much as is possible) forget about the Covid environment we all find ourselves in. Yes there is social distancing, hand sanitising, staff in masks etc etc, but it does seem overly intrusive or strange. There is sufficent space to allow the guests to feel at home and comfortable without always worrying about being too close to others. A special mention to the Kitchen who - at a time when so many Hotels and Restaurants have minimised menus choices - still provide extensive choices and beautifully cooked and presented dishes. We had a really pleasant and enjoyable stay, so thank you to all involved with the Hotel.

We stayed here 12 months ago, but this visit was 20% more expensive (the same room). There is no saving on the number of nights. But we enjoyed our stayed

Mother and daughter weekend stay

TT, Berkshire, stayed: September 2016

I visited Corse Lawn Hotel at the beginning of September with my daughter, we wished to visit the Cotswold villages and to enjoy some walking on the Malvern Hills. As said in many of the reviews Corse Lawn feels like a friendly, country house home, very pretty with its duck pond at the front. The rooms are spacious, the linen and towels felt like new, and are equipped with thoughtful extras - including the delicious biscuits and plate of fruit, renewed everyday. The staff are very helpful and courteous, the atmosphere is quiet and restful. We had dinner in the restaurant both nights - the food is amazing! Breakfast each morning was just as good. With so many places feeling very standardised, it was lovely to stay somewhere with character and charm.

overnight treat

SE, London, stayed: October 2014

The hotel is located in a very pretty area with many interesting and attractive places nearby to visit. The setting with duckpond in front is very charming.
We really enjoyed the opportunity to have a swim before dinner. The pool was really warm and we were the only ones in it.
The service in the restaurant was excellent - attentive and friendly. the menu is very extensive and has several vegetarian options which we needed. However the cooked breakfast menu did not cater well for vegans or vegetarians. My partner who does not eat eggs was given half a grilled tomato and a spoonful of mushrooms as he was unable to eat the bacon,, sausages and egg from the full Engish. He asked for some fried potatoes, but they weren't available. It would be advisable to offer more variety and larger helping for vegetarians.
Our room was delightful and very spacious. Big thick fluffy towels and bathrobes were provided (useful for the swimming pool).
The sitting room was cosy and comfortable and board games and books were available.
Altogether a very relaxing and pleasant stay.

Could have done better

The two P's, Surrey, stayed: September 2015

Food quality lived-up to two AA Rosette classification. Forthampton room was spacious with a pleasant outlook but bathroom could have been a lot better in terms of fittings and lighting (useless for ladies doing their make-up). Staff were helpful and friendly when spoken to but none of them took the initiative to talk to you or ask if you were happy (e.g. the waiters never returned to ask if the restaurant food was satisfactory). Breakfast not as good as dinner (especially the sausages - dry with a coarse texture - not to my taste). Position of the hotel is good - quiet with attractive surroundings and a good base for exploring the locality.
