A very nice Cotswold hideaway

Anon, stayed: April 2026

The hotel is very secluded and at first sight is very welcoming. It is situated around a lovely lake with tables situated around the perimeter. Just right for a welcoming drink after a long journey. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Dinner in the evening was of superb quality. A hearty breakfast is served in the morning. A well equipped bar completes the experience. Very good value for money. I will stay there in future

Definitely worth a visit.

Stephen, Lancashire, stayed: April 2026

All the staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. (There was a wedding reception on our last night there just down the corridor from our room. So we wouldn't be disturbed the hotel moved us to another bedroom at the other side of the hotel.) The food in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast was excellent, with there being a lot of choice at breakfast time. The serving staff were also excellent. Dining was very relaxing and we weren't rushed. The bar was comfy and spacious with a good local cask bitter on tap.
Regarding the bedroom it was spacious, comfy and well-equipped and we slept well. However, the decor and the furniture were very dated and need modernising, and this applies especially to the en suite bathroom. At our age (70s) it was like going back in time and wasn't really a concern, but it might be off-putting to younger people.

Very disappointing

MP, Dorset, stayed: November 2025

First impressions not good hotel covered in scaffolding unkempt grounds hotel obviously in a very bad state of repair. Reception extremely tatty and smelt damp. Every single item from carpets to all the soft furnishings need replacing. First bedroom although large had no central heating was cold dirty and smelt damp. We asked to be moved. Second bedroom was at least heated but very shabby no fan in the bathroom the jacuzzi bath didnt work nor did the television. The food was limited and very average. The hotel is currently being refurbished, however in our opinion should be closed completely until it can offer the service and facilities that they are charging for. I certainly would not stay there again and feel very let down by country hotel breaks for recommending this hotel

Needs some updating

Anon, stayed: October 2025

This hotel could be absolutely wonderful but obviously needs some money spending on it. Our room was well proportioned and the seating area was great to have. However it is a long time since we slept under blankets and not a duvet, and we were cold the first night until we found an extra blanket. The shower pressure is also not very good, we appreciate the plumbing is probably old but I'm sure there could be a way of improving this. Antique furniture is lovely to have but sometimes not very practical and the sofa needed some re-upholstering.
Other guests told us their rooms were also cold though there are electric heaters provided.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the food is good.
A minor point but it reflects on the overall ambience - very few of the pictures on the wall in our room, the restaurant and sitting areas are straight!!

A 2 day break

CH, Northamptonshire, stayed: June 2025

The bathroom and bedroom were a very good size . The furnishing dated but it was very clean.
In the room there was fresh fruit, coffee and tea making facilities and a biscuit jar with homemade shortcake biscuits. We enjoyed our stay , the breakfast choice was excellent and the evening menu wasn t huge but had a good variety of, well presented and delicious dishes .
