Nicholas, South Glamorgan, stayed: September 2023

Beautiful old hotel with very good restaurant and charming owner
Generally a lovely place to stay but state of decor, windows etc needed some refurbishment
Service was good but rather slow which didn t matter too much as weren t in a hurry but might upset some people

Lovely one night stay

CH, Buckinghamshire, stayed: May 2025

We were given our night away as a present , on arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room. Our dog was fussed and everything explained to us.
The room was spacious and clean, it had a few little areas that could do with a bit of maintenance but in general very comfy.
We took a walk round the fields and then had a drink by the pond. All very nice.
Dinner was in the bistro as we had our dog but the staff were friendly and knew about GF options which was brilliant. Food was amazing! Again a few areas could do with some upkeep but a lovely meal.
Breakfast in the morning was again lovely, although we had to stick our head into the kitchen to get a member of staff to serve us as again we were in the bistro. Once they came out they were friendly and the service was quick and food great.
All in all a lovely visit and we would definitely come and stay again.

A 2 day break

CH, Northamptonshire, stayed: June 2025

The bathroom and bedroom were a very good size . The furnishing dated but it was very clean.
In the room there was fresh fruit, coffee and tea making facilities and a biscuit jar with homemade shortcake biscuits. We enjoyed our stay , the breakfast choice was excellent and the evening menu wasn t huge but had a good variety of, well presented and delicious dishes .

Delightful country hotel

Martin Camroux, stayed: June 2021

Really charming old building, the heart of which is a Queen Anne house. Our room had a four poster bed and a lounge and atmospheric creaky floorboards. The restaurant is traditional and in keeping with the style of the house. A really charming break. At the moment the staff seem inexperienced - it seems most of the original staff did not come back after the lockdown. So our bill was wrong and we were were rung up a month before to tell us we were late for dinner. The mixed vegetables for the set menu were rather uninspiring and one potation between two people seemed rather ungenerous. But we would certainly be happy to go back.

Beautiful Hotel

AK, Derbyshire, stayed: November 2023

This a beautiful country hotel. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We are in the restaurant and the food was very nice as was the breakfast. Open fires and a four poster bed made for the perfect weekend getaway. They are also very welcoming for dogs. Would very highly recommend and will be returning.

Another lovely short break

Michael Brotherton, Chippenham, stayed: June 2023

The only shortcoming was that the pigeon and venison main course were obviously cooked too quickly and were therefore not as tender as they might have been. Eggs Benedict would be a valuable addition to the breakfast menu. We will be back soon for our 5th visit
