Lovely hotel

Really lovely hotel all staff friendly and welcoming great central location would recommended definitely visit again .Also thank you to booking agency who made everything so easy for me really helpful.

Relaxing stay

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were superb and the excellent greeting and help on our arrival was first class. A special thank you to Alex on reception. First rate service and a credit to the hotel. A great place to unwind and relax.Thanks to all the staff

Four day break at Bowden Hall

Lovely break in a beautiful hotel. There was only one criticism- a percentage was added onto the food bill for gratuities. I felt this was not good as I much prefer to give tips if the service was good. Otherwise, the holiday was perfect ( including the weather)

Good stay

Had a bit of mixed up. But sorted out professionally. This was our 3rd stay and each time room is very different.

A lovely relaxing one night stay as a birthday treat for my partner.
I also gave a one night treat to some friends as a Birthday gift. We all had a wonderful relaxing time with lovely clean rooms. Would love to go again soon.

Bowden Hall, good accommodation let down by restaurant and bar

Our room was lovely, with good views. Reception staff professional and helpful.
Regrettably the hotel (part of the Mercure group) was let down greatly by food & beverage. Non-alcoholic Mijito probably the worst I have had. With food; cheese souffl was a round lump of pale substance surrounded by / swimming is liquid and served in a pudding dish rather than a souffl dish. There was no puff / heat etc. The ribeye steak overcooked (for rare) and quality poor, and the hake was overcooked, insipid and poorly seasoned.
Complained in restaurant, told that there was a new chef, but our view was the food was pre-cooked and prepared by / from food producer wholesaler.
Complained on leaving, and was told that the General Manager would e-mail my husband. This never happened.
This is my first disappointment with Country Hotel Breaks, having stayed at some wonderful locations with great accommodation and excellent restaurants. I would recommend that someone from the Company do an unannounced stay to make sure the Company is content with the hotel being so advertised.

If you want a super break!

Everything superb, just go! I am very surprised by the negative reviews I read prior to our visit. Everything was great, friendly (lovely, welcoming receptionist) great breakfast, super friendly professional staff, lovely afternoon tea, super clean room, constant hot water with such high pressure - so great showers. Thank you for giving us such a lovely break away, so convenient to explore the Cotswolds. We will definitely be seeing you again.
